    History:-o Establishment:-

    The Gandhidham Mercantile Co-Operative Bank Ltd.had started theoperation on auspicious day of Ram Navmi, 09.04.1995, by former chief

    minister of Gujarat Shri Sureshchandra Mehta being the chief guest of the

    opening ceremony. It started with the collaboration of The Gandhidham

    Chamber of Commerce & industries under the leadership of late Shri

    Bhomrajbhai Jagani with 15 promoters.

    o Moto: -Need is the origin of creation.o Mission :-

    Its mission is to maintain long term & healthy relation with customers.o It was the first co-operative bank in Gujarat having computerized system for the

    day of operation.

    o From zero in 1995 , the bank has crossed commendable milestones in efficientbanking and dedicated customer services.Thebanks fully satisfied customer-base

    has crossed the 30,000 mark. The Deposits have crossed Rs.50 crores and

    Advances Rs.32 crores mark. Net NPA of the bank has remained NIL till date.

    With paid up Share Capital of Rs. 5.26 crores and total Reserves above Rs. 9

    crores, the bank is enjoying immense and exemplary solidarity and liquidity. Just

    to prove this, the banks CRAR has remained 52.4% as on 31st March 2003 a

    long way ahead of 7% prescribed by RBI. Not only this, with profit of Rs. 3.5

    crores, the bank has been on top in Gandhidham complex for consecutive thirdyear in yearly profits. A sizable amount, every year, is utilized in charity works of

    the complex. Also, the bank staff has proved its admirable efficiency with per

    employee business has been Rs. 310 lacks, per employee profit Rs. 16.64 lacks

    and establishment expense has remained just 5.94% of the total expenditure during

    the last financial year. Whats more could be the word of applause, when Reserve

    Bank of India has itself praised the all-round progress, performance and financial

    soundness of the bank in its audit.( DATA UPTO 2003)

    TECHNOLOGY:-oThere is higher end server which provides service 24 X 7.oThere is dual CPU. The capacity of the H.D.D (HARD DISK DRIVE) is 1 Tera

    Byte. It consists of 5 H.D.D.

    oThere are 2 servers i.e. forehand server which one of the servers is on standby. Thestandby server i.e. backhand server has capacity 10 G oracle & is used for

    mirroring. If there is any problem in main server then the data is recover from the

    mirror server.

    oH.D.D can be removed if there is any error and the information is displayed on CPUand the replaced H.D.D is configured.

    oThe server is Avaya certified an MNC company.oThe head of all is EDP department i.e. server department.

    RACK:-o 10 terminalo 3 common switch

    There are 10 terminal and 3 common switches to connect servers and towhole bank.

    There is 24 X 7 air condition in servers room to maintain the temperature. There is 90 degree connection to maintain speed of system.(BUS

    TOPOLOGY)

    SOFTWARE :- The basic software is BIT BANKER" OFFLINE SERVICE:-

    oServer is not connected with internet, but customer of bank can access his/heraccount from internet with given id & password.

    oStatus of cheque, a/c information, latest transaction & bank service i.e. interest etc.services are provided by bank.

    o Hierarchy level is from down to top level of management.o There is strictly written communication.o Weekly meeting, reporting is to be done to the top level management.o Chairman, Vice Chairman & Managing Director has full right & authority to

    DEPOSIT PROCESS:-o There are 3 (three) receiving cashier &2 (two) paying cashier.o To deposit the cash the data entry (TPS) is done where the scrolling process is

    done. This saves the time of customer and cash deposit is done within few

    minutes.

    o As cash is accepted by the cashier, the cash is not credited to his/her account. Butthe shadow i.e. the type of that a/c gives that there is transaction but notauthorized.

    o Then the authorization process is done by the designated officer & then theamount is credited to his/her a/c

    WITHDRAWN PROCESS:-o As stated above there is two paying cashier.o One of the cashier have authority to give cash not above RS 40000/-.o In second cashier the customer have to take the authorized sign from the officer.

    Same is for both cashier. Officer will check sign & verify the balance in any

    case.(DSS)o There is no process of token system. In the process the account is verified and if

    balance is enough, then cheque is passed and amount can be withdrawn.

    LOAN PROCESS:-o It is the heart of the bank.o Customer who need the loan have to go under proper channel

    First customer have to fill the application form for the loan Customer has to fulfil the documents required by the bank which is stated

    above in opening process.

    o Various a/c includes OD A/C (overdraft facility):- It is for business man who can get the credit

    facility to the customer. It is given against stock or property mortgage. Bank

    provides service to withdrawn more than its balance.

    C.C A/C:- It is same as OD A/c but the interest is charged on the loanpassed on it, whether customer may use it or not

    HYP A/C (Hypothetical A/c):- It is provided loan to the shareholders. Pershare loan given by bank is Rs 7500/- per share. In this shares of the

    shareholders have to be given mortgage under bank. TERM LOAN: - It is the loan given for the development of the project

    which is to be paid by the customer in instalment and interest is charged on

    the balance loan given.o After the application is filled then designated officer verify it & send for the

    approval of the particular loan

    Decision :-o (ESS):-wheter to give loan or not

    Up to 1 crore to 1.5 crore the decision is taken from loan committee.

    Above 1.5 crore it is send to BOARD OF DIRECTORS committee. Loan committee have authority to decrease the loan amount if the body

    feels that :-

    Mortgage value is not as per norms to sanction the required loan Or, the required loan is not needed to customer.

    o This process is completed within a week in weekly meeting of loan committee andfull detail is scanned.

    RBI (RESERVE BANK OF INDIA) DEPARTMENT

    There is a separate Department in the bank which deals with all the procedures related tothe RBI.

    All the communication with the Reserve bank of India are handled by this department,Reports of the bank are all documented and are regularly sent to RBI through mail (as

    per RBI norms). All the circulars from the RBI are first received by this department. (All

    circulars, Documents from the RBI are always through written communication).

    FRANKING:-o Simple paper is approved by the government by some machine is called frankingo Its software is known as OUTSORCING SERVILING SYSTEMo Bank earns commission from it.

    CLEARING DEPARTMENT

    The Clearing Department Deals with all the cheque clearings, local and nationalized

    clearing.

    In local clearing the cheques issued for clearing are of the same bank, so the cheques are

    verified in the bank and the transaction is authenticated. Local cheques are accepted till4:00 PM. (local cheques get cleared in an about 45-60 mins)

    In nationalized clearing the cheques of the other banks are taken for clearing these

    cheques are taken before 11:30 AM only then these cheques are taken to the SBI clearing

    House where the verification of these cheques is done, then they are authenticated or

    rejected according to the bank norms. (Nationalized cheques clearing require about 3 to 5

    hours for the same city and 1 to 7 days for other city or state cheque clearing).

    Safe Deposit Vault (SDV)

    GMCB Bank has highest number of lockers, i.e. 2068 lockers in Gandhidham. SDV Department of the Bank is highly secured. The SDV vault is centrally air conditioned with central music system. The Routine cash Balance of the Bank is securely kept in the SDV vault. The SDV room is totally fire proof. Procedure of getting a locker in the bank:

    o A saving account is required to get locker and document are stated aboveo Security deposit is taken and no rent is taken.

    Operation Method: Single operation. Dual operation.

    Note: Operators must be above age of 18 years.

    Operation of SDV process:o Requirements:

    o ProcedureFirst the customer provides his/her locker number to the officer, and then it is verified by

    the name (Photo ID) of the customer. Then customer signature is done on the register

    which is also verified by the customers data (No computer is used in this process the user

    data is all paper documents) after verification, officer gets the customer to the SDV room

    where the officer inputs the master key to the locker and the customer also inputs his/her

    key the combination of both these keys opens a locker, then the customer is left alone to

    operate his locker. Once closed the locker cannot be opened again without the master

    key.

    This locker operation is totally documented in the register (Details such as time, date,

    locker no, signature) every month this data is updated in the server computer of the bank

    from the register.

    GMCB is first bank to install the BIO-METRIX ATM in gandhidham in 2008. BIO-METRIX means the unique id of card consist of password with scan of fingerprint.

    ATM server is connected with main server and there is different server room for it. ATM server monitors minutes to minutes detailed transaction and the withdraw

    detail.

    There are three secret cameras in ATM. There is audio system in ATM which is inlocal language helps the customers to withdraw the amount

    A new technique is available in machine is that if within 15 seconds money is nottaken up then it is taken back by machine. After this the customer has to give in

    writing to the bank.

    There are two rack where the returned back amount is on the top rack /box Capacity of the ATM is 40 lakhs. Printer of ATM card is from Bangalore. Four fingers scanning are taken in special cases.

    BACK UP

    This is above back up process Back up is taken in 5 H.D.D. This 5 H.D.D is with General Manager, assistant,

    Admin.Officer and designated officer.

    Daily data is taken up and is cumulative i.e. from day one of operation. The data taken at the end of day is called closing & carried forward next day is

    opening.

    SECURITY

    There are infrared 25 cameras in bank. Bank takes pride that 99% theft & fraud arecaught.

    Motion sensor :-o There are 3 motion sensors in whole bank which helps the safety of bank.

    o From information there is motion sensor checks the movement in bank. Ifthere any object moving above 16 kg then the burglar alarm and sms is send to

    feed of data in it.

    o Procedure:- Last person in bank closes and input the id & password in motion

    sensor, then within 5 minutes he/she have to move out of bank.

    At time of opening of bank the first person enter into bank, but there ismagnetic sensor attached to the main door. The person has time of 5

    minutes to put the motion sensor off by putting id & password.

    FIREWALL:-

    There is hardware & software firewall which protect the server fromvirus.

    ATTENDANCE MACHINE:-

    o This is BIO-METRIX by scanning fingers of employee.o There is grace of 10 minutes for late attendance, but valid for 5 times in a

    month

    o If it exceed by a grace minute then the employee is considered total minuteslate including grace minute.

    o If employee is late more than given limit then he receives Memo from GeneralManager.

    GENRAL INFORMATION

    Option of withdrawn form & cheque book service is asked to be opted. MICR(magnetic ink character recognition code)

    o MICR is used for serve faster. In which 1st three characters are oflocation then bank code & then the head department or branch code.

    For e.g.:-gandhidham is 370, then bank code 08 then head office for

    one. 370081.

    o There is code input then the cheque is passed through machine and isscanned.

    o The service is started from December The bank provides SMS service for each transcation to registered customers

    of bank. This information is directly given from server.

    Strong generator facility.

    MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM CONCEPTS

    Firewalls: This firewall prevents unauthorized users from accessing private networks.It can also be used to protect onepart of a companys network from the rest of the

    network.

    Wireless security: By the wireless security they can prevent from eavesdroppers. Intranet: Intranet is organization use internet networking standards and web technology

    to create private network. Intranet creates networked applications that can run as many

    different kinds of computer throughout the organization.

    Transmission Control Protocol (TCP): TCP handles the moments of databetween computers. TCP establish a connection between the computers sequences the

    transfer of packets and acknowledge the packets sent.

    Internet Protocol (IP): IP is responsible for the delivery of packets and includesthe disassembling and reassembling of packets during transmission.

    Transaction Processing Systems (TPS) : It is done to do data entry ESS :-it is done at chairman & BOD level to take strategic decession DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING:- It relates with the server which is standby in

    case emergency.
