SRE policy to be
renamed RRLC
(Respectful
Relationship and
Life Cycle
Education) policy
We have updated our Sex
and Relationship Policy.
To update the policy a
working committee was
formed with some
parents, governors and
staff members’
involvement. The
committee decided to
change the name of the
SRE policy to RRLC policy
(Respectful Relationship
and Life Cycle
Education). The updated
policy was shared with
parents in four different
workshops during last
half term. The policy was
also shared with staff
members and we all
agreed to update the
policy the way working
committee has proposed.
We hope the policy will
be ratified at the
Governors meeting.

Congratulations
to Starfish class
who won the BEST
ATTENDANCE
AWARD in Key
Stage 2 with
97.82%
The award was a trip to
see the Minions movie at
Rich Mix on Thursday
11th July. It is safe to say
that Starfish Class loved
it. It was hilarious and
being set mostly in
London, the children
recognised many of the places in the film.
Year 4 take part in cricket tournament at Weavers Field
30 children from Year 4 took
part in a fantastic cricket
tournament with other local
schools at Weavers Field.
Students from Swanlea helped
coach the children and each
child took part in several
games. The children all had lots
of practice developing their
throwing and bowling, learning
to run at the right time and
hitting the ball with the bat.
It was a lovely, fun day.

The Soul
Stealing Horror
By Aniqa. S. Hussain
Year 6 Owls Crystal white flakes drifted slowly
down, burying the deserted ghostly
town in snow. Merrily, I skipped down
the snow-topped, cobbled alleyway
when I came across a board. A
chalkboard. Scribbled on it were
hundreds of names. As I skimmed
through them, I realized that some of
them were names of long lost family
and friends. These names. There was
something about them. All of these
ancestors had disappeared from the
face of the earth. But something urged
me to scrawl out my name. I took a
step back.
Alma.
I stood still just staring at it but then I
felt as if I was being watched and a
shiver ran down my spine. Reluctantly,
I turned around. It was then that I saw
it. Blinking not once but twice, I
realized that it was something more
than just my reflection. There was
something behind that frosty glass
window.
Curious, I edged closer; pulse racing;
palms sweating; heart beating heavily.
It had the same blue grey bobble hat,
same dark pink hooded body warmer
and the same muffler. Yes. I had been
cloned. But as I looked back up, the
doll had disappeared! But how? It was
made of plastic surely. Astonished,
shocked, amazed, I stood as still as a
statue.
Frantically, I scanned the room, my
eyes still adjusting to the dark. And
there in the center of the threadbare
carpet stood ‘my’ doll. Instantly, my
face lit up. I tried the handle about a
dozen times but it wouldn’t budge.
Annoyed, I stormed off. But before I
could get far, the old, wooden door
creaked open.
I shouldn’t have entered. But I did. I
was stupid. I was curious. I was
determined. Slowly, I stepped in,
admiring the hundreds, maybe
thousands of dolls. Some looked
Victorian, some Edwardian, some
Tudor and some modern.
I moved over to where my doll stood.
But then, I accidentally stumbled over
a doll on a toy bike and knocked it
over. I bent down to pick it up and
watched it go. It headed straight for
the door; but before it could escape the
door had shut. Laughing at its
stupidity, I turned back to my doll.
Amazingly, it had once again vanished!
What was going on?! Frantically, I
moved around the room in search of
the doll. Then, I spotted it. High up on
a shelf my doll sat, waiting to be held,
to be touched, to be alive. Pulling over
a sofa, which was old and dusty, I
started to climb. Climbing the
mountain of dolls, I pulled off one
mitten and outstretched my hand.
Nearly there. Slowly. And YES! I
grabbed it. But NO! Before I could do
anything, my life flashed before my
eyes.
Suddenly, I was stiff all over; my limbs
were stuck; I couldn’t move my head;
my lips didn’t move and no sound
came from it. Then, I understood- I
had become a doll! My heart leapt (not
that I had a heart anymore). My
breathing had become heavy and the
only thing I could do was move my
plastic, googly eyes, which I hated.
Then, I heard an eerie sound. One that
I hated very much. My eyes slid, slowly
over to where that horrible noise was
coming from. It was the rattling of cogs
as yet another doll spiraled up.
The shop had chosen its next victim.
No one can escape this shop… it was
ALIVE…..

Premier League
Reading Stars!
This is the second year
16 boys from Year 5
have participated in the
8 week Reading Project
ran by the Idea store,
Literacy trust and the
Premier league football.
The project aimed to
improve boys’ reading
and writing skills
through their interest in
football.
The Year 5 boys had a
great time reading and
writing about their
favourite Premier
League footballers.
They developed and
improved essential
reading and writing
skills through fun-filled
football related
activities such as
reading and writing
sports articles for
newspapers!
Year 3 enjoy day trip to Weavers Field
Year 3 Dolphins and Seahorses went to Weavers Fields to enjoy a
great day out with exciting sports activities and a delicious treat.
Children thoroughly enjoyed this trip
and they were able to write beautiful
recounts in literacy about their experi-
ences. Here are just a few quotes from
their writing, please enjoy reading…
“What I thought would be an ordinary Mon-
day turned out to be a rather amazing sur-
prise… We tip-toed through the frightening-
ly dark tunnel because we did not want to
step on
rubbish
or bird droppings… When we arrived,
everyone was full of joy. The grass
was silky soft…” (Hadi- Dolphins)
“Even though I’ve been there before, it
was different this time as I enjoyed
every moment of the trip with
my friends and teach-
ers.” (Najiba – Seahorses)
“Excitedly, a group went into
the park. I climbed onto the
climbing frame. My heart be-
gan racing uncontrollably… This
was the most surprisingly ex-
citing trip ever!” (Iqra- Dol-
phins)
