Other Activities We hope you enjoy your winter activities while at the park. It is our goal to provide a safe, enjoyable area for park vis- itors. 1. Winter camping is available in Sandstone Ridge Campground on the designated sites. Pit toilets are avail- able in the campground. Water is available at the East Side of the park office. Campers should register at the self-reg- istration station at the park office prior to setting up camp. Park stickers may also be purchased at the self-registration station. 2. Mirror Lake is very popular for ice fishing. When traveling across the ice, be extremely cautious of the ice conditions at all times. Ice thickness varies and may not support a per- son. Weather conditions, springs, animals or currents may cause thin or deteriorated ice conditions at any time of the winter. The Department does not monitor ice conditions on Mirror Lake. 3. A candle-light ski, hike and snowshoe event is a popular way to spend a winter night out. Please ask the park staff about upcoming events or visit www.wiparks.net. Designated Use Areas Trails, Beaches, picnic areas and other designated recre- ational or educational use areas, in conformance with Wisconsin State Statute are depicted on this property map. All other areas are considered undesignated and are not inspected or maintained by the Department. Park users are encouraged to limit their activi- ties to designated use areas. Safety Tips 1. If an injury occurs while on the trail, please contact the park office staff or dial 911. (Sauk County Emergency Medical Service). 2. Please follow the signs and arrows on the trails for your safety and others. Ski/Snowshoe within your abili- ty and always leave enough space between you and other skiers/snowshoers. 3. Most of the trails are easy to moderate in difficulty. A few trails will have hills with difficult turns. Please use caution at all times when on the trails. 4. Ski trail conditions can change rapidly throughout the day.Trails that are heavily used can quickly be destroyed, even if groomed earlier in the day. Ski in control. 5. All ski trails are tracked for diagonal skiers and some trails are groomed also for skate skiers. Skate skiers shall keep to the left side of the trail. Where the trail is too narrow to skate, please diagonal ski in the set of tracks. Diagonal skiers, especially beginners will appreciate a clear track. 6. Hunting is allowed in the state park at certain times. See the information at the park office for season dates. If you ski during a hunting period, please be sure to wear bright clothing. Rules 1. PETS are not allowed on groomed ski trails. Pets are welcome at the park in other designated use areas as marked and hiking/snowshoe- ing trails. They must be kept on a leash no longer than 8 feet in length and be under physical control at all times. 2. A vehicle park sticker is required. Purchase sticker at the park office. 3. The park is open year round from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. 4. Hiking and snowshoeing is not allowed on ski trails. The park offers other trails for those activities.
