“Where do we go from here?” is one of the most common questions from parents of a student with learning disabilities as their child transitions to a post-school life. The presenter will provide important resources, tools, and contacts to ensure students have a successful transition into further education, employment, and full participation in their community. Participants will receive practical tips on anticipating needs, coordinating care, and navigating systems to help their student achieve continued success.

Many daily responsibilities require problem solving, mental calculations and using space and measurement to make sense of information. Teaching children to think rationally, search for and make use of answers to their number questions confidently each day are the goals of teaching and learning mathematics. This workshop will feature effective instructional strategies for educators and parents to become skillful with whole number, fraction computation, and measurement. Dr. Sherman will also discuss how students can think logically and productively to solve problems with number and measurement.

In today’s world, students can access more information than ever before, yet research and organization can be overwhelming and stressful. With the technologies available today, however, getting your student organized can also be easier than ever. Independent school technology coordinators will share the tips and tricks of Evernote and Google Drive to help students organize schedules, homework, and long-term projects. Attendees will leave empowered to affect positive change in these areas which are a vital part of a child’s success in both school and life.

Workshops will be held in the Miriam School Gym at 501 Bacon Ave., 63119. Availability is subject to attendance and weather conditions.
