    Minutes of the meeting of the Research Board held on Saturday, 11th April, 2015 at 3.00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administrative Building, Santiniketan.

    1. Confirmation of Minutes

    (1) The minutes (page 1 to 27 Registration part) of the meeting of the Research Board held on 30.5.2014 were read and confirmed.

    (2) The minutes of the Research Board held on 17.1.2015 were read and confirmed.

    (3) The Research Board considered and approved the list of students as at annexure-I, who have enrolled themselves in Ph.D. programme and are yet to complete their course work.

    (4) The Research Board considered the applications for Registration of students who have completed their course work as at annexure-II and the observation is given against each in the said annexure.

    (5) The application of Dr. Susmita Rana (Pal) in connection with Post-Doctoral work at Sangit-Bhavana was considered by the Research Board and it was resolved that the candidate may be requested to apply again to the concerned Board of Studies with a detailed synopsis.

    2. Re-registration of Ph.D. studentships:

    Considered the applications of the following 10 (ten) Ph.D. students duly recommended by the respective Board of Studies, regarding re-registration of Ph.D. studentships as indicated in Appendix-B and Supplementary Appendix-B.

    3. Cancellation of Ph.D. studentships:

    Considered the recommendations of the concerned Board of Studies for cancellation of Ph.D. studentships of the following 4 (four) students, as indicated in Appendix-C of the scheduled Agenda:

    i) Debapriya Ghosh, Department of ASEPAN ii) Tarun Barman, Department of Geography iii) Saraj Goswami, Department of Geography iv) Chumki Biswas, Department of Geography

    It was RESOLVED that the cancellation of Ph.D. studentships of all the aforesaid four (4) candidates has been accepted and their names be deleted from the Ph.D. enrolment register of the university.

    4. Modification of the title of the thesis:

    Considered the recommendations of the concerned Board of Studies for modification of the respective titles of theses of the following 7(seven) Ph.D. students, as indicated in Appendix-D.

    5. Change of status of Ph.D. studentship:

    Considered the recommendation of the concerned Boards of Studies for changing the status of the following 6 (six) Ph.D. students, as indicated in Appendix E.

No. v), which was inadvertently shown in the agenda i.e., existing status -part time and proposed status -full time, be accepted as existing status - full t ime and proposed status -part-time.

    6. Change of Supervisor/Joint Supervisor

    Considered the recommendation of the concerned Boards of Studies for changing of supervisor/joint supervisor of the following 9 (nine) Ph.D. students, as indicated in Appendix-F and Supplementary Appendix - F.

    7. Noted and approved the actions taken by the University in respect of awarding of the degrees of Ph.D. to 9 (nine) Ph.D. students on the evaluation of their theses and viva-voce examinations as indicated in Appendix H.

    8. Miscellaneous

    i) Considered the application of Dr. Piyal Basu Roy, a former Ph.D. student of the Department of Geography regarding permission for publication of Ph.D. thesis.

    It was RESOLVED that Dr. Basu Roy is permitted to publish his thesis as per university rules.

    ii) Considered the prayer of Chumki Mondal, an ex-student of the Department of Physics, seeking permission to apply in Ph.D. through JEST score.

    It was RESOLVED that Ms. Mondal is permitted to apply for Ph.D. Registration on the basis of JEST score.

    iii) Noted with approval the actions of the Pro Vice-chancellor regarding the title of the thesis of Sri Subroto Chowdhury, Department of EES, PSB i.e. Designing Rating Methodology for Micro Finance Institutions Operating in India.
