    '!he Seventy-Ninth seseion of the Liberty No.1 Association of Free Will Baptists open-ed with congregational singing, directed by Bro. Elmer Gray with Sis. Agnes Ashcraft et the piano.

    Bro. Jesse Odom gave the Welcome Address. lhe Morning devotion was given by Rev.

    E. F. Sanford on Fellowship and Love, 1 K;..ngs 19:4-5 & 18. Prayer by Bro. Ivan Stewart.

    The Moderator gave his message on our respoDsible to the association n n d invited visiting brethren to seat with us.

    Associational deacons, Leland Nall and Jesse Fillmore,were appointed.

    Reading Clerks were Ivan I. Stewnrt a:.1d Jesse J. Odom.

    Church letters, with their finance, ond Ministers' Reports Wf'.re turned into the clerk.

    l. Elected Bro. Mason Casey on the Executive Committee. -

    2. Re-elected Rev. C. M. Byrd to serve on the Ordaining Council.

    3. A letter from Rev. Billy Sharpston, Hart-selle, was read before the body concerning a full time promotional man for the State. This was put on table until Saturday.

    The meeting adjourned and disnrl.ssed in prayer by Bro. Jesse Odom.

    Supper w::1s served from 5:30 - 6:30 by the ladies of host church.

    FRIDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 11, 1968

    Song service started at 7:30 w:;_th Bro. Mason Lord directing. Sis. trJ. G. Palmer at the piano.

    Prayer by Bro. Ivan Stewart. More choir singing. A special, "Nothing Here To Hinder Me",

    was sung by Hr. and Mrs. Ralph Be~sley. Then a special, ,.Reunion in Heaven 11 , by Mr. a n d Mrs. Mason Lord.

    The evening message was brought by Rev. N. W. c~~den. Text was Revelation 2:1-7,-"Paul's message to the 7 churches of Asia.

    The service was dismissed in pr~yer by Bro. Tony Downey.

Each church to bring only the number o f residence members to Quarterly Meetings and Association. Non-residence members will be left on roll to be re-instated when they so desire. 4. The Assistant Clerk be paid $10.no. 5. Each year a report of the Minictors' and Deacons' Conference be printed in mL~utes.

    All stood und gave appreciation to the Host Church for a wonderful hospitality.

  • AS TO THE RULES ARTICLE NO. 1

    SECTION 1. l~cn a sufficient number of members are ree1dy for orgonizotio11 the arti-cles of faith and church covenant sha 11 be rend nnd if adopted, the right hand of fel-lowship shall be extended, and after prayer they shall proceed to the election of offi-cers, nfter which they shall bo declared organized and ready for business.

    SECTION 2. No church slulll be orsanized with less thnn 3 mole members, nor within 6 miles of tmother church of the sllll\e faith, tmle3s in towns or cities.

    SECTION 3. The officers of a churchsmtl be npnstor, one or more deacons, and o clerk nnd trensurer, and not less than 3 trustees .

    SECTION 4. The church shall cnll their pastor at the next conference preceding the last regular conference, the Associationnl yenr, unless in case of a vacancy; in such case they may call n conference for t hn t purpose.

    SECTION 5. Any church, in ooae of necoa -sity, may call n conference nnd elect one of their members, or n visiting minister, as moderator.

    SECTION 6. The church may hold n con .. fcrcnce oc often ao it deems it necessary.

    SF:CTION 7. It shnll be the duty of each church to commune and wash the Saints feet at least each quarter.

    SECTION 8. The church shall not try n mEmber without o hearing \mleos said member refuses to attend the conference, when noti· ficd to do so.

    SECTION 9. When a church desires that one of ita members should be licensed o r ordained to preach the Gospel, it requests the Quartc:_:-ly Meeting or Assocl.ation ofwhich it is a membar to examine, by council, such membar, and they thems e lves will grant licCl'lSC.

    SECTION 10. The Ordn ining Council shall consist of 5 ordained Ministers in good standing in this association to be elected by tlie body. Anyone to be ordained to the office of M..i.nister or Deacon shall upon re-commendation of this church appear before thin com1cil for ordination.

    SECTION 11. Deacons shall not be ordoined l.ll'ltil they are tried.

    SECTION 12. Each minister shall be a member of some live church and in good standing 1-dth the church.

    SECTION 13. It shall be the d u t y of every moobcr, male and feiMlo to a ttend each confcrcnco meeting if they can, for on t.l-}at dny the pastor is e)tpccted to instruct the church in n spiritual mnnner by giving plnin ru.1d pointed len sons on doctrine nnd discipline, and the rule of holy living a..11d the church members • duties.

    SECTION 14. No msmber shnll give or attend cnrd parties, or attend other places of worldly amusement, or allow such things to be held in their homes, and drunken eo s is strictly forbidden.

    SECTION 1. 'Ihe PASTOR shall attend his church regularly unless providentially hin-dered, and shall sit as Moderator and sec that justice is doae, bat may appoint some suitable brother to sit in his stead u·hen he thinks proper for the cause.

    SECTION 2. The DE#\CON shall be elected by the church and shall hold office at the direction of the church. They shall l-7lltch over the flock, advise the unruly members and .report such to the church in conforel.'lce when necessar}' and may administer the ordi-ance o1f" bnptism; they shall make all necos-sary arrangements for the cosa"•mion; l o o k into the noods of the church,ard the support of the pastor; they shall take notice o f s uch members a s refuse or neglect to portalte of the Lord 1 s Supper and wash each other 1 ::1 feet, and endenvor to ascertain the cn.usc, that the same may be laid before tho chtlrch in conference.

    SECTION 3. The CLERK shall be elected by the church and shall hold office at the discretion of the church; he shall keep a record of the members and minutes of the business transaction of the church and shall read the same at the conference as often as the church may demand, and shall tw:n all books and papers over to their successor in office.

    SECTION 4. The TREASURER shall be elect-ed by the church, and shall hold office at the will of the church, shall hold all money paid into the church for general expense cmd poy out the arune only on an order from the church, in conference and shnll tucn over all money and papers to their successor.

    SECTION 5. The TRUSTEES shall be elect-ed by tho church, nnd shall hold office for 2 years and tmtil their successors aro eloc-ted unleaa removed for cause; titey have chn%.1!P of the deeds and n.ll other church propo=ty,

    and shnll look after the repairs of the church,-but they ca1~ot sell o r otherwise dispose of the church property without an order from the church in conference.

    SECTION 6. No one shall be received in the church unless baptized by emerison by an ordained Minister or Deacon.

    SECTION 7. MEMBERS must pay their debts contracted by them, or make sorlsfactory ar-rangemento uith their creditors.

    SECTION 17. It is the duty and the solom responsibility of every member to support their church with tithes nnd offerings.

    SECTION 18. It is the duty of the church to support thoir pastor to such n degree th.nt he moy devote himself to full ·time ministry of GOSPEL.
