The Battle of Lexington and Concord. In the Battle of Lexington, the British engaged with minutemen on their march to Concord. The minutemen were getting demolished by the British. Most of the minutemen died, but some fled into the woods. The British marched on to Concord to get more ammunition. That is where the Battle of Concord took place. Before the British could get ammunition, the second wave of minutemen were hiding in a farm/field. The minutemen engaged in a sneak attack and surprised the British immediately. The British had one disadvantage - little ammunition. They still had enough to attempt to defeat the minutemen. But the element of surprise helped the minutemen. They went ahead quickly and stayed that way. The British started to retreat, but the minutemen were ordered to keep firing. The British attempt to retreat was successful. The casualties were terrible. The British lost 279 men and the minutemen lost 96. The minutemen lost 18 men in the Battle of Lexington. The minutemen won the battle. It was a prodigious momentum shift for the colonies. The minutemen had won the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
