CAREER NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: Gibson took his third consecutive loss June 21 against the Cubs after going 5.0 innings and giving up two runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in the Twins 8-0 defeat...he gave up a run on a Starlin Castro sacrifice fly in the third inning and another on an Anthony Rizzo home run in the fifth inning...the 102 pitches were the seventh-most he's thrown in his career, and in the six starts where he threw more, he went at least 5.2 innings.

SOME SUPPORT, PLEASE: In Gibson's current three game losing streak, the Twins have given him just three runs of support...in that time, since June 10, that is the fewest on the Twins staff...in fact, the 3.45 run support average he has recieved on the year is the fewest among Twins starters...the Twins have scored two-or-fewer runs in seven of Gibson's 14 starts on the year.

AGAINST THE BREWERS: Gibson will be making his third career start against Milwaukee, his second this year and his second career start at Miller Park...he didn't factor into the decision June 5 at Target Field, allowing five runs in 7.0 innings, while striking out a career-high nine...all runs came on three home runs in the first three innings -- a solo homer from Jean Segura in the first, a solo homer from Jonathan Lucroy in the second and a three-run homer from Adam Lind in the third...Gibson retired the final 13 hitters he faced...Gibson took the loss in his only career start at Miller Park, June 2, 2014, opposite Matt Garza, going 6.0 innings and giving up four runs...he retired the first nine hitters in that start but allowed a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

IN INTERLEAGUE: Gibson will be making his ninth career start against the National League, his fourth this year, and his fifth against the NL Central...he is 1-6 with a 5.63 ERA (46.1 IP, 29 ER), 10 walks and 36 strikeouts in eight previous Interleague starts...his only career win came on September 23, 2014 when he beat the Diamodbacks at Target Field, going 7.0 innings and allowing one run in the Twins 6-3 win...he took a loss in his first four Interleague starts, allowing four or five runs in each start...he had a streak of 28.2 innings without allowing a walk snapped when he walked Matt Carpenter in the third inning June 16 at STL...Gibson has worked at least 6.0 innings in five of his eight Interleague starts, including in four of the past five.

AT THE PLATE: Gibson has six career plate appearances, with two coming this year...his first hit came last year on June 2 at Miller Park when he singled to right field off Matt Garza...he also collected a hit off Michael Wacha at Busch Stadium on June 16 of this year.

GOOD DAY: On the season, Gibson has a 4.02 ERA (40.1 IP, 18 ER) in seven starts during the day with a 1.37 strikeout/walk ratio (26 strikeouts, 19 walks)...however, in his last four starts during the day, Gibson’s has a 2.55 ERA (24.2 IP, 7 ER) with a 2.33 strikeout/walk ratio (21 strikeouts, 9 walks).

GROUNDED: Gibson has induced double plays in 12 of his 14 starts this year, including a season-high three May 30 against Toronto...he now has 16 on the season, which is tied with teammate Mike Pelfrey for the major league lead...he has induced 144 ground balls this season, which is second on the team (Pelfrey - 155) and seventh most in the AL...his 2.29 ground ball/fly ball ratio is fifth best in the AL...in fact, since the start of last season, his 2.31 ground ball/fly ball ratio is third best in the AL and 10th highest in all of baseball.

NO IN BETWEEN: The Twins have won 25 of Gibson’s 55 career starts...in those 25 games, Gibson has a record of 19-0 with a 1.77 ERA (163.0 IP, 32 ER), 47 walks and 95 strikeouts...he has given up just five home runs in the Twins last 20 wins when he has been on the hill, a span covering 137.1 innings...conversely, in the 30 losses, Gibson has a 7.40 ERA (153.1 IP, 126 ER) with 58 walks, 96 strikeouts and an opponents average of .310...however, in the eight losses the Twins have this year in his starts, his ERA is down to 5.44 (44.2 IP, 27 ER).

HISTORIC MAY: In six May starts, he went 3-1, 1.36 ERA (39.2 IP, 6 ER), nine walks and 24 strikeouts...his previous best month came in June of 2014 when he had a 3.16 ERA (37.0 IP, 13 ER), 3-2 record, seven walks and and 21 strikeouts...Gibson’s 1.36 May ERA was the best in the AL and the fifth best in baseball...he has made 11 career starts in May, going 4-3 with a 2.43 ERA (66.2 IP, 18 ER), 15 walks and 38 strikeouts; the 2.43 ERA is the best of any month of his career.• His May was even one of the best in Twins history...his 1.36 ERA is tied for the third best May ERA

in Twins history with Scott Erickson (1991), and only Jim Hughes (0.87 ERA in 1975) and Jim Kaat (1.24 ERA in 1972) had lower ERAs in May since 1961.

2014 RECAP: Gibson finished his first full major league season with a record of 13-12, the second most wins on the staff (Hughes - 16)...finished second in starts (31), innings pitched (179.9) and quality starts (15), and third in strikeouts (107).• Won each of his first three starts to become the first Twin since Livan Hernandez (2008) to make the

Twins starting rotation and begin the season with three consecutive victories...he became one of just three pitchers in Twins history to start the season with a record of 3-0 while posting a sub-1.00 ERA, joining Bill Krueger (1992) and Francisco Liriano (2006).

• Recorded a career-high eight strikeouts twice: June 18 vs. Boston and September 23 vs. Arizona.

GIBBY IN THE COMMUNITY: Gibson will welcome student athletes from all over Minnesota to games this season. The students, from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program, will receive game tickets paid for by Gibson and the chance to watch batting practice from the field. Gibson, a strong supporter of FCA, will also visit with the athletes during their visits.
