Introduction• Veteran attorney and law professor Edward Adams teaches at the

University of Minnesota Law School and serves as a partner in Adams Grumbles, LLP, in Minneapolis. An involved member of his community, Edward Adams works in support of several local organizations, including the Minneapolis Youth Baseball Association (MYBA).

Catering to children in second through the ninth grades, MYBA oversees a diverse youth baseball program that aims to teach baseball fundamentals in a competitive environment fostering sportsmanship and long-term development. In addition to managing 18 competitive travel teams divided according to skill level, the organization now operates a developmental league called the Mini Millers, which is for younger youth not quite ready for the level of play found in the travel league.

Minneapolis Youth Baseball•Launched in 2013, the Mini Millers gives

players in grades two to four the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and discipline required in travel baseball. Less rigorous than the travel league program, the Mini Millers league typically practices once or twice and play two games a week throughout the season. For the first time since the program’s launch, Mini Millers teams will play in their own league during the 2015 season, which will wrap up with a playoff tournament at the end of July.
