‘Purple Fork
Luncheon’
Once again our Purple Fork Gang Luncheon in February was a huge success with 32+ attending. We celebrated the month by enjoying the Red Velvet cakes, cupcakes and even a cake roll! Thanks for all the cakes! We also enjoyed having Roger and Sandy Webb with us. Roger shared very timely information with the group on how we Seniors can give generously at a savings when we file our income taxes. Great job, Roger!! Thanks for the information and thanks for answering the questions! We will not have a luncheon in March due to the Spring Banquet. We will resume in April with Dr. Ed Champagne sharing with us on how we can grow old graciously! Read his biography on the back page of this newsletter. Plan now to attend the Spring Banquet and the April luncheon!! ----SAM

On APRIL 5th THE PURPLE FORK GANG LUNCHEON
will welcome
Guest speaker - Dr. Ed Champagne
Dr. Champagne was born in Manchester, NH. After high school graduation he spent four years active duty in the Navy. He then earned his Bachelor’s degree as a double major in Education and Social Sciences and his Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling at the University of Maine. After his fellowship at Boston University and upon completion of his Doctoral Degree he was recruited by International Paper in the Human Resources Division and was named Manager of Corporate Education in Memphis, a new function addressing all learning needs of the corporation worldwide. He traveled extensively in many countries for over 20 years working with leaders and managers to assist them in developing their leadership skills and counseling behaviors toward success. All this time, he was still involved with the Navy and took on over six units in 24 years as either Executive or Commanding Officer while representing the U.S. Naval Academy. His last assignment was Public Affairs Officer for 6 states and 12 Naval Reserve Centers retiring as a full Commander. In 1987, he began his own practice, Command Consulting. He also served as Director of Learning and Counseling at Wright Medical. He has taught part-time at a number of institutions including State University of NY, Crichton College, University of Memphis, Rhodes and the University of Mississippi. He is married to the former Susan Chandler of Jonesport, Maine. They have three children and two grandchildren. Ed & Susan are new members of our congregation.

The S.A.M.-Tones Chorale will resume on March 1st (Thursday) and meet in the Choir Room on the lst and the 8th. We will practice and go over the changes in how we plan to minister with music in March thru June. Come check out the changes. Invite others to join us as we continue our ‘Ministry to Seniors and of Seniors.’ Thank you for your faithfulness and commitment to our Senior Music Program. I am excited about the changes and opportunities to minister through singing the old hymns during these months. See you soon! ----Sam
