SPIRITUAL GROWTH ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Joy of Living Series: “Hall of Faith” study Sundays, July at 8:30 am. Led by the Lintons,
we will look at the faith of the Old Testament saints as found in Hebrews 11. Come learn
about what faith is, about the object of our faith, and about the authority and power available
to the believer through faith in God.
OUTREACH MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS:
“Change the World” every Sunday by putting your loose change in the offering plate. For
the months of July and August we are collecting for “Hero’s in Transition” which was
founded in memory of Capt. Eric A. Jones, a Marine helicopter pilot, who lost his life while
supporting a combat mission in Afghanistan, October 26, 2009. “He flew helicopters to be
close to the troops on the ground and be there to help them when they needed it most,” said
Cyndy Jones, Eric’s mother and one of the founders of “Heroes in Transition”. The
organization carries on Capt. Jones’ mission by providing assistance to those who have
served or who are serving our country.
Service Center Loaves & Fishes Collection: We are challenging the congregation to bring
in 500 containers of food during the months of July and August. This time of year, the
Falmouth Service Center receives the least donations. So, let’s show them that the story of
Jesus feeding the thousands is possible.
The Fresh Start Program In its 13th
year the Falmouth Service Center is collecting school
supplies for the Fresh Start Backpack Program. Items are being collected for grades k-12.
Last year this program helped 293 children to have a fresh start to the school year. Please
check the insert or the bulletin board for the list of supplies. There is a bin in the fellowship
hall for donations.
We are teaming up with Gosnold for their “Playing Above the Influence with the
Commodores" Tuesday July 31st 4:00-5:30. This is a family event with interactive activities
including a K-9 demo from Barnstable County Sheriff's Dept., a chance to meet
Commodores players, Fire Dept. slip n slide, Police cruiser and other vehicles, vision goggle
obstacle course, free food, and t-shirts and much more! They are looking for volunteers so
grab your RED JWUMC shirt and join Wesley and I from 3:30-5:30! If interested, please let
Julie Immelt Whelden know by calling (508) 221-4958 or [email protected].
"English as a Second Language": We are very excited to possibly offer ESL classes here at
John Wesley this fall. We are always looking to help the community in different needs and
we have found that there is a need for this in Falmouth. This program would run from
September to April most likely on Tuesday nights for an hour and a half and Thursday nights
for one on one tutoring. If you are interested in volunteering or are trained in ESL please
contact Mark Karsner (508) 272-5961 or [email protected]. We hope to have an
ESL training July or August.
Spaghetti Dinner is in need of a cleanup crew of about 7. Also a dessert coordinator!
