JOINTING METHODS Compression fittings and clamp saddles Compression fittings range: (Safety factor = 3 x working pressure) Pressure rating: 16mm - 63mm PN16 75mm - 100mm PN 10 Clamp saddle ranges and pressure rating: (Safety factor = 3 x working pressure) Clamp saddles with stainless reinforcing ring and flat gasket PN16 reinforced 25mm x 1/2” - 160mm x 2” PN 10 reinforced 20mm x 1/2” = 315mm x 2” Assembly instructions for compression fittings: • Cut the pipe and clean burrs • Partially unscrew the nut • Pish pipe into the fitting over the clamp ring until the first stop, thus indicating you have reached the seal • Push the pipe through the seal until you have reached the full insertion depth of the fitting • Screw on the nut tightly to the body of the fitting Butt Welded Systems for Polyethylene - HS Welding as per SABS 0268 The simplest and quickest way to make a permanent pipe joint is by HEATED TOOL (HS) WELDING. The two pipe-end faces to be welded, carefully cut square and cleaned in advance, are held lightly pressed against a heated tool. (Temperature @ 200 0 C). As soon as the welding temperature is reached, the heated tool is quickly withdrawn from the weld faces and the pipe-ends are pressed together under pressure. (All applicable welding tables are available on request) TAK System • A machined fitting (takstub) that is butt-welded onto the pipe. A unique rubber ring that provides sealing and a clamp that is fitted over the two butt-welded TAK ends. • Two types of clamps are available, ie: L-Series (Low Pressure PN 6) and H-Series ( High Pressure PN 16) • This system is able to handle vacuum conditions as well as pressure VICTAULIC Systems SG IRON VICTAULIC for PVC (Rated up to PN 20) • A pressed-on SG iron end with unique grip configuration over the PVC pipe ends. Grip configuration specifically designed to counter pull-out force due to the creep characteristics of plastic materials. Also contains a rubber ring and clamp for fitment. PLASTIC VICTAULIC for PE (Rated up to PN 10) • A machined fitting (vitaulic stub) that is butt-welded on to the pipe. A unique rubber ring that provides sealing and a clamp that is fitted over the two butt-welded victaulic ends. Care should be taken not to damage plastic victaulic ends as this could lead to leakage. Victaulic-ended pipes usually have protective gaskets. Surface contact area on plastic shoulder on to clamp is much smaller than the TAK System thus the 10 bar rating. STUB AND FLANGE System • A machined fitting (stub) that is butt-welded on to the pipe. Flanges used are hot-dipped galvanised in accordance with SABS 1123, BS 4504, BS 10 AND ASA 150. Electrofusion Systems for Polyethylene. • A simple method for the permanent joining of pipe lengths is the use of Electrofusion fittings. • Pipe ends are to be cut square, scraped and cleaned properly prior to the fusion process. The equipment consists of a time controller for the heating operation and a transformer. The Electrofusion machines are completely automated together with bar coding to eliminate possible human error. The couplings contain a coil of conductive wire within the body which, when subjected to an electric current, heats up and melts the plastic which in turn fuses on to the outside of the pipe. Solvent Welding for PVC - SABS 0268 (Techno Plastic PVC fittings and valves) Installation instructions • Ensure pipe ends are cut square. Mark depth of entry. • Clean pipe end and fitting using approved cleaner. Abrade pipe ends. • Apply solvent cement to pipe and fitting. Insert pipe into fitting and clean away excess solvent. • Allow 12 hours to cure before use. NOTE: Refer to price lists for details of full product range and dimensions, local and international certification and assembly instructions.

PE-HD (Black) pipe to SABS ISO 4427 and DIN 8074 (Supply of Water)

    (1) The standard ratio SDR corresponds to the quotient between the outside diameter and the wall thickness of the pipe. It is non-dimensional.(2) The nominal pressure PN corresponds ot the maximum permissible operating pressure of the pipe at 200C, in bar.(3) e = minimum Wall ThicknessThe above tables are based on the standards ISO 4427, DIN 8074, AS 4130 and ISO 4065/150 161/1The weights are calculated at the base of average diameter and thickness values, according to tolerances specified in the standardA range of butt weld and electrofusion fittings are available for the above piping.
