NEW MINI COUPE SEE IT, TOUCH IT

WIN A MINI DRIVE AWAY FOR ONLY £1

My very first plans with the clubby was to change the colour as at the time I thought it was proper naff. After getting the mini ready for on the road the colour was starting to grow on me, also by this time my better half Claire had already named the clubby “Treacle” as she said the colour reminded her of Treacle LOL !!! . After a little research we found out that there was only a few Antelope Beige clubby’s made, and being one of the 1st ever clubmans I thought that maybe one day I may convert all the mods back to original so things like interior ,wheels, subframes etc. have been kept just incase.Treacle had only had 1 owner and even though he’d (yes Treacle is male lol) only done 30k he had not been that well cared for as he was full of dents and knocks, solid as a rock for a car of this age but as I say absolutely full of dents even the roof. After a few years of driving him as he was, except for new subframes, interior and engine fitted I managed to save enough money up to have him restored so he was booked into MiniMine to be painted and get rid of all those nasty dents.

While he was being painted I’d asked to have both sills replaced as these had a bad repair to both front edges back in “1996”. With the sills now off we couldn’t believe how solid he was, the inner sills were still like brand new.The weird thing was the doors, no rot at all from the outside of the doors, but badly rusted from the inside, for this reason we had the door skins replaced, it just wasn’t worth painting them as it was only a matter of time for the rust to pop through . Due to new hubs, awesome brakes and the suspension set up a little hard for many but I love it, it handles amazingly and with the engine spec. it pulls like a train. Its appeared at many rolling road days and on a good day produces 105hp at a restricted 6k not bad for a little old A series.

Watch this space, future plans for ‘Treacle’ is the fitting of a Mini Sports 7 port head and Weber carbs also the fitment of the new 123 “tune” dizzy, just got to win the lottery!
