General RulesM

Games will consist of 2 halves, each 15 minutes long. Running Clock (stops for injuries and timeouts).

Six players on the court maximum. Four players minimum to avoid a forfeit.

All players must wear a helmet with a full face shield. Players can bring their own or use the ones provided.

Mercy Rule: A team leading by 10 goals in the 2nd half or 7 goals in the last two

minutes will automatically win.

All players must wear a helmet with a full face shield. Players can bring their own

or use the ones provided.

All players, with the exception of the goalie may only use sticks provided by NU Intramural Sports.

Goalie equipment will be provided by the Campus Rec department.

Goalies may not switch during a period.

Goalies may not cross center court or score a goal.

Offensive players may not enter the crease.

Players receiving any combination of 3 penalties will be ejected from the game and the facility.

Major penalties, misconduct penalties and game misconduct penalties will all result in the player’s ejection.

Penalties from the bench will be assessed to the team’s captain.

This is a NON – CHECKING league. There is to be no intentional contact between the players.

The acting player will serve one (2) minute penalty during which their team will play shorthanded.

Dissent: Objecting by word of mouth or action to any decision of an official.

Reckless or dangerous acts.

A team will forfeit the game if they receive either of the following: Ten (1) minute penalties. Three (2) minute penalties.

Note: An ejection counts as two (2) two (2) minutes penalties.

Players will be ejected immediately for the following actions: Cross-Checking. Receiving five (1) minute penalties or two (2) minute penalties. Leaving the bench area to participate in a fight or altercation or

exhibiting violent behavior. Spitting at another player. Physically damaging equipment or the facility.

Upon an ejection, the opposing team will receive the ball, and the offending team may replace the ejected player after three minutes.

Mini-Lax is strictly a NON-CONTACT sport Players cannot intentionally make contact with opposing players.

Intentionally contacting an opposing player will result in a minor, major or game misconduct penalty. The severity of the penalty will be at the judgment of the official.

Advantage If the defense commits a foul, the official will hold his hand up

signaling the foul. The foul is only enforced when the offending team gains possession of the ball. If the offense scores before the defense gains possession, the foul will not be enforced.

Substitutions on the fly.

Players can only hold the ball for ten seconds.

Hand and foot passes are illegal, but players may use the hands and feet to control the ball.

Players may not shoot from within the opponents goalie’s zone.
