Guest Policy Any eligible person from the above list may register one additional person in the same course, as their guest, at the same course fee level.

Children Mini Courses is a lifelong education program designed for adult learners. Participants must be 18 years old to enroll in a Mini Course. Enrollees who are 16 or 17 years old may participate with concurrent paid registration and attendance by a parent/legal guardian. Children under 16 years of age are only allowed to enroll in courses specifically designated for their age group and/or in courses that state “parent and child” in the course description. For liability reasons, there are no exceptions to this policy.

We will cover everything you need to know to take your design from the drawing board to a functional longboard. Includes how to build simple concave forming presses, pressing and shaping boards, finishing techniques and mounting of your hardware. The Craftshop, “where art is a verb,” was the first open studio arts facility ever opened in a college union. Located on the fourth floor of Memorial Union, working media include ceramics, woodworking, traditional b&w photography, art metals, stained glass, glass fusing and more. Need instruction, take the Mini Course. Know enough and looking for the space and tools to work, the Crafshop sells access permits by the semester, half-semester and hourly. Japanese Shibori Cloth DyeingExplore the the ancient art of Japanese

Shibori. Shibori, which translates as “shaped-resist dyeing,”is a general term that encompasses hundreds of ways of manipulating cloth, such as binding, stitching,folding, twisting, and compressing, to achieve colorful, artistic designs on fabric. We will learn how to achieve many different surface designs on fabrics using this elegant yet simple art, which has been a Japanese tradition for over 750 years. We will work with the three main types of shibori: arashi shibori (pole wrapped), nui shibori (stitched), and itajime (folded and clamped). We will use indigo dye, one of the oldest hues used in textile dyeing, and a traditional dye in the art of shibori, as we create unique fabric designs using the various shibori techniques. 3 Meetings. What if I need a Refund?Full refund of course fees if we cancel a course for any reason. IF YOU REQUEST A REFUND, A $5.00 FEE WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR REFUND. TO RECEIVE A REFUND, NOTICE MUST BE RECEIVED BY OUR OFFICE THREE (3) BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS MEETING. No refunds for inability to attend published rain dates. Refund of Membership fees requires return of Membership Card. Refunds for fees paid by cash or check can take up to 4 weeks to process. Refunds for fees paid by credit card are credited to your account immediately. Receipts will not be mailed for credit card or web-based refunds. What about Transfers and Credit Vouchers?Transfers and Credit Vouchers are possible up to three business days prior to the starting date of any course. A $5.00 FEE IS ASSESSED for transferring or requesting a Credit Voucher. No Credit Voucher will be issued after second class session for multiple session courses. One-session and individual lesson courses require three business day minimum prior to class start date for Transfer or Credit Voucher requests. Credit Vouchers are good towards any Mini Course, for one year from date of issue.
