Mine Creek Civil WarBattlefield State Historic Site:New Outdoor Interpretation
In 2012 the walking trail at Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield was redesigned and new interpretive signs were placed along the trail. A life size metal cavalryman was installed at the entrance, to mark the driveway and to provide a dramatic photo op.
I served as project manager. For the signs and the metal art, I solicited competitive bids from vendors. I researched and wrote the material and selected images for the signs; the graphic artist designed the layouts. For the cavalryman, I worked with the metal craftsman to ensure the design was life-like in size, dress, and personality. The site administrator and I determined the placement of all signs and the metal art.

Signs at the visitor center, right, and trail head, below, briefly describe the entire battle and its aftermath. The signs are located in an ADA accessible setting for visitors who cannot walk the 2.5 mile trail.

After the signs and metal artwork were installed, I shot film of the battlefield for an upcoming video about the battle and the site.
