SILENCEA trademark “MIMA Moment” occurs when we orm a circle at the

end o a class and ocus our energy towards its center. A dozen handsslowly orm a mandala. We channel the energy o the group into a si-lent moment. Suddenly everyone is connected more than ever be ore.

Silence lls the space between notes, humans and mo-ments in time. This void makes some people uneasy. For oth-ers, these “silent” moments cry or attention, beckoning theircreative response. Why are silent moments so important?

1. Silence is at the heart o everything.

— the space between sounds— the in nite realm o unspoken dreams— the cavity housing thoughts and imagination

2. Some people are masters o silence.

— Meditation (practitioners)

— Our ancestors (the deceased)— Teachers that inspire a classroom

Harness the power o silence. Give people mo-ments to refect on who and where they are. Build si-lence into a crescendo and break it with order and chaos.

THINKING FORWARDby Chantal Palmer

As we start this year – a big year or MIMA, we need to remindourselves that we need to step outside o ourselves in everyaspect o our lives. To push a little harder, to take a ew morerisks, to move into places that are less than com ortable.

Whether it be about shaking up your original class or-

mat or introducing creative concepts, new movementsor exercises: or about applying or a grant when you havenever tried be ore – take that step into the uncom ort-able. Think bigger than your big. Embrace the mountainthat you stand beneath because how else are we to grow?

Surround yoursel by those who push you to be better, not just those who make you eel good about yoursel .Let them remind you when you become lazy and com-placent, let them make you angry because they disagreewith you BECAUSE they will make you think and strive tomove orward! Then start putting one oot in ront o theother on the determined path and keep your head up highwith your gaze on the horizon and don’t be scared. Let themusic play and let those that can, help you on your way.
