Milankovic attended the high school, Realka, in Osijek and finished as the best in the class.

The Milankovic family wanted to direct Milutin to some high agricultural school because it was necessary to secure someone to manage their spacious land.

Instead,Milutin chose civil engineering in Vienna.

When the German occupation authorities in the Second World War asked the Belgrade University professors to sign the Appeal to the Serbian people (and support the occupation of the country), Milutin Milankovic is one of the few professors who refused to do so.

When the Second World War finished, Court of Honor of Belgrade University wrote this conclusion:

About his last days,Milankovic wrote:

I budala sebe smatra pametnim. O sebi mogu kazati, otprilike, ovo.

Milutin Milankovic died on December 12,1958. in Belgrade.

Milankovic is best known for his theory of ice ages, suggesting a relationship between Earth's long-term climate changes and periodic changes in its orbit, now known as Milankovitch cycles.

He made the most accurate calendar ever. The length of the tropical year is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds and Milankovic has achived accuracy of 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 48 seconds. Only 2 seconds longer!

Milanković is the main „offender" who proved that on Mars can be no civilized life, because his calculations showed that the temeratures are too low.

There are 2 craters that are named after Milankovic:one on the far side of Moon and one on Mars called 1605 Milankovic.

NASA has chosen Milankovic in the top 10 scientists who have studied the Earth.
