Attendance The expectation of the DEC is to achieve attendance rates for each student of at least 90%. It is a parents’ legal responsibility to provide an explanation for absence within 3 working days of the child returning to school. This includes late arrivals and early leaving, which are recorded as “partial attendance” and subsequently require an explanation from the parent or carer. If an explanation is not received, the absence will be recorded as “unexplained”. If an absence is not appropriate it will be listed as unexplained and unjustified. Our school attendance registers are legal documents and children who have continual unexplained absences are referred to the School Attendance Officer. We ask for your support to provide the best educational opportunities for your child by ensuring they attend school every day possible.

Lost Property Missing a hat, school jumper, lunch or drink bottle? Please check the lost property, which is located outside both the staffroom and canteen. The tubs are overflowing with property both labelled and unlabelled. Please assist us in ensuring everything is returned to its rightful owner by labelling everything!

Eurobodalla Boys Football (soccer) Congratulations to Tim R, Thom S, Michael A, Patrick A and Harm S for trying out for the district football trials. Competition was fierce with many skilled players. Well done to Harm for making the squad and we wish you the best of luck on the 4th April at the South Coast trials.

Eurobodalla Basketball Milton Public School representatives in the Eurobodalla Basketball side were:- Cameron P, Alex D, Josh D, Ziad E and Jack C. They had two other players from Moruya to make up the team. The team travelled to play at the Berkeley Sports Stadium on Friday 21 March and although they didn't make the South Coast side, they won all three of their games. Results:- Eurobodalla defeated Dapto, 69 - 16, Eurobodalla defeated South Wollongong 84 - 3, Eurobodalla defeated Mid South 18 - 16. Congratulations to all the boys who played so well on the day. Thank you to Michael (from Batemans Bay) who coached them.

AFL Trials On Wednesday, 19th March, Harry H, Caleb G, Reef K, Joe S, Ben S and Caleb G travelled to Hanging Rock oval at Batemans Bay to play for the Illawarra South East Region AFL trials. The day started out with some warm up kicks and skills before getting straight into action. The boys played four straight games with only a 5 minute break in between each game. The boys played with passion and displayed great sportsmanship. All of the boys played to their best and made many new friends. The hard work payed off for Caleb K who was selected in the South Coast team. Congratulations to all 6 boys on representing Milton School at such a high standard. By Harry H and Caleb K

Easter Raffle Time! It’s that very eggsciting time again… time for our Easter Raffle. This is a big fundraiser for the P&C, but we need your help. The P&C would like donations of Easter Eggs and/or anything Eastery to make up Easter prizes. Donations can be left at the office. Raffle tickets have gone home with today’s newsletter. Just remember, the more eggs we have, the more prizes we can give out. The raffle will take place on Thursday 10th April just before the Easter Hat parade at 9:20am.

P & C Wine Raffle We have been lucky enough to have had a donation from a Milton Public School family of a box of wine (one dozen) Tickets are available from the front office and are $5 per ticket. This raffle will be drawn at the same time as the Easter Raffle.

Car Park Reminder Parents are reminded that the bottom car park off Wason Street is for STAFF and PERMIT HOLDERS ONLY. Please do not enter the car park for any reason as this is a major safety concern with the number of students and parents entering and leaving the school. It is your responsibility as a parent to demonstrate safe use of car parking facilities by refraining from socialising in the car park area. Police and Traffic supervisors will be frequenting the school to ensure safe practices.

Thomas Street Please use common sense when driving along Thomas St. Recently we have noticed some cars have been rolling through the crossing and not giving way to pedestrians, there have also been cars travelling along the one way street the wrong way and cars stopping to allow students to alight in bus and “No Stopping” zones. Residents have also complained that cars have been parking across driveways, preventing access to houses. Please be mindful and set a great example to our MPS students. If at all possible please refrain from driving down Thomas Street during the critical times of 9:00am - 9:30am and 3:15pm - 3:45pm.

University of NSW Competitions These competitions have been made available in the past to students from Years 3-6. They are an external examinations in several key areas; Computer Skills, Science, Spelling, English and Mathematics. Each competition will cost $8.80, spelling will cost $12.10. If you would like your child to participate in any or all of the competitions, please forward the payment and advice slip to the office by tomorrow Wednesday 26th March. All students who enter receive a participation, credit, distinction or high distinction certificate. MPS students have performed very well over the past few years and we encourage all students to take up the challenge. This is the last week for applications there will be no late entries accepted.
