The Spinney“It was the stables and grazing land that first attracted us to the home 11 years ago; we had horses at the time and we are both keen riders,” says Kathryn, “I think when you buy an equestrian property you do not just buy the house, it is like buying an entire way of life; a lifestyle and leaving it will be a huge change for us,”

“We have made a few changes to the home and the equestrian facilities since moving in. The home itself is full of character and Grade II Listed but we wanted modern fittings so we were happy to put in a modern kitchen and bathroom. We added central heating, re-thatched the roof and added a 20x40 metre ménage,” says Gordon.

“My husband is a farrier – a specialist in equine hoof care. The outbuildings gave him enough space to have a workshop from home and conduct business comfortably from home,” adds Kathryn.

“I think we will miss the character of the house the most. It was built in the 1800s and has a beautiful thatched roof and two inglenook fireplaces in the lounge – our favourite room,” says Gordon. “It is full of interesting features and has stunning exposed stone walls throughout. In the winter, it is the perfect place to relax,” continues Kathryn.

“We really enjoy living on the outskirts of Milton Keynes. We are only a ten minute drive away from a huge shopping centre, cinemas and restaurants but our little village is so idyllic with far reaching views of the countryside in every direction,” says Kathryn.

“We often go to London for the evening to see a show or for dinner. The train station is a ten minute drive from our house and trains to London take around 30 minutes, and during the weekend and evenings the train fares are incredibly cheap,” says Gordon.

“I will be sad to say goodbye to our garden. It is very large and landscaped and really picturesque – a great place to spend a summer’s evening. For one of my birthdays, my husband surprised me with an equestrian photo shoot, shot by the photographer from Horse & Hound. The house and garden made the most beautiful backdrop,” reminisces Kathryn.

“A short distance from the house is North Bucks Way, miles and miles of well-maintained off road riding; we would love to see a young couple living here who have horses and would take advantage of the wonderful equestrian facilities,” declares Kathryn.
