MILLER MECHANICAL
SERVICES, INC. Celebrating over 20 years in business
www.millermech.com www.millermech.com
When Myles Miller founded Miller Mechanical Services, Inc. (MMSI), in 1988, the sole business was performing shutdown and general maintenance at pulp and paper mills throughout the United States. Having spent more than 30 years working as a field superintendent and manager for a major pulp and paper equipment supplier, he was able to spearhead MMSI’s march to the forefront of the industry. Through the years, the company has evolved to include metal fabrication facilities for the engi-neering and construction of ASME code vessels and component parts used in the pulp and paper industry.
MMSI is proud that after 20 years of business, it in-cludes over 55,000 square feet of building space to serve as fabrication, repair, storage and administrative facili-ties and employs people of the very highest professional caliber. Myles assembled a group of talented, creative and steadfast individuals to carry on his vision of contin-ued service excellence and to create a product that is un-matched in the industry. MMSI is now recognized as a leader in the business.
Company Background Company Background
Miller Mechanical Services, Inc. (MMSI) has metal fabrication fa-cilities in excess of 36,000 square feet with crane capacity of over 100,000 lbs. We are able to burn/cut, roll and form carbon steels, stainless steels, Duplex Stainless, and other materials, in excess of 1” thick, all within house. To join these materials, we utilize our in house welders who are tested and qualified in GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, & SAW welding processes. Sandblasting and painting operations are performed on site. We maintain ASME and NBIC Code Stamps for fabrication and repair of vessels.
Over the years we have gained extensive ex-perience building ASME pressure vessels, API storage tanks, tanks, heat exchangers, screens, scrapers, piping packages, pipe hangers, plat-forms, ladders, handrails, cones, chutes, transi-tions, large diameter ductwork, rectangular tub-ing, equipment fabrication and assembly. Equipment and tanks that have been fabricated in our shop have been shipped to sites through-out the US and the world.
We can assist you and your staff in the design requirements or perform the design based on pertinent information and requirements that you supply to us for the particular appli-cation. Design per ASME and API standards and generation of CAD drawings can all be done for you by our personnel. Required documentation and registration of vessels and equipment is done by our staff. We use industry accepted standards and inspection requirements for fabrication, but these can be modified to meet your specific require-ments.

Miller Mechanical Services, Inc. is currently licensed to fabricate DiamondBack™ feed bins for Diamondback Technology, Inc. The Diamondback offers a number of solu-tions to address bulk solids handling prob-lems that occur in hoppers, bins and process-ing units. This patented technology has been developed to provide continuous flow for feed stock and has been used in a multitude of applica-tions for various industries that require a reli-able and uninterrupted supply of stock.

Miller Mechanical Services, Inc. has developed and patented a curved slotted screen to be used in vessels. In field trials, this screen has been found to be stronger and more effective in resisting blockages than conven-tional screens. The patented curve slot design creates lower resistance to flow which allows for a smaller portion of the screen plate needed for open area. Therefore, more metal remains in the screen plate and this creates a stronger surface area. The curved slot design allows sideways movement of material in the slots and this movement helps to pre-vent material from being lodged. By varying the slot width and radius, MMSI can con-trol the maximum thickness and width of particulate allowed to pass through the screens and create a screen design that satisfies individual plant process require-ments. The patented curved slot screen is manufactured using laser technology in cutting slots which are then ma-chine finished.

Both screens shown above were in op-eration, side by side, for a period of 2 1/2 years. The slotted screen remains virtually free of obstruction, while the
typical screen is almost completely clogged. The digester was blown, not cleaned prior to being photographed.
The goal of our Field Service Division is to meet your project re-quirements in a timely and cost competitive manner while assuring compliance to safety and quality standards. To attain this goal we have eight supervisors with over 180 years of combined experience in just continuous digester equipment mainte-nance plus countless more years in general construction experience. These supervisors bring with them crews that are unique in that they work exclusively on the repair, maintenance and installation of pulp and paper mill equipment and vessels. Our supervisors and crews appreciate and understand your expectations and take consid-erable pride in exceeding them. MMSI field crews and tool trailers are available to equip your shutdown, maintenance project, or emergency. Many locations can be activated quickly from our ser-vice locations in Glens Falls, New York and Brookhaven, Missis-sippi. We maintain ASME and NBIC Code Stamps for fabrication and re-pair of vessels. Field welders are skilled to our code qualified weld procedures and can perform weld repairs, weld build-up, and weld overlay on ASME pressure vessels as required. MMSI has a ser-vice proven overlay system, that along with our experienced super-visors and crews, can cut your downtime and costs on vessel shell build-up, weld overlay and future maintenance.
