GENERAL INSURANCE

CLIENTS TERMS OF BUSINESS

Applicable from 1 July 2013. This is our standard client agreement upon which we intend to rely. For your own benefit and protection you should read these terms carefully. If you do not understand any point please ask for further information. These terms supersede and previous terms you may have received from us. Please keep them with all of your policy(ies) for future reference.

Proceeding with a quotation or a renewal implies your acceptance of our Terms of Business.

Acceptance of them gives us the authority to instruct insurance providers on your behalf based on our understanding of your instructions.

In these Terms of Business, ‘We’ refers to Miller Commercial Brokers Ltd who will be responsible for dealing with your insurance requirements.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

SETTLEMENT OF YOUR INSURANCE PREMIUM

In advance of accepting your Terms and Conditions, your premium will be confirmed either verbally or in writing. Payments made by Debit or Credit card will be processed on the day your policy begins, or in advance if necessary. You will receive notification that your payment has been accepted through an invoice which should be kept for your records. Cheques must be made payable to Bennett Gould & Partners Ltd.

All Direct Debit facilities are supplied by Close Premium Finance.

Where additional interest charges are made, these will be confirmed to you along with your payment schedule. All Direct Debit mandates must be returned to Miller Commercial Brokers Ltd within 7 days of receipt. Close Premium Finance will attempt to take your first payment within 10 days of your policy start date. Failure to have funds available may result in charges being made by Close Personal Finance.

OUR SERVICES

We are independent insurance intermediaries known as ‘Brokers’. Occasionally we act as the agent of another intermediary. We would confirm

Once your needs have been assessed, we will advise and make recommendations for you. Where appropriate, we can also advise on optional extras such as vehicle breakdown cover, home emergency cover, and legal expenses.

Our service to you includes carrying out a ‘Fair Analysis’ of the market. This means that we have compared products from a range of insurance providers in regards to cover, price, quality of service and any additional features to find the right policy for you. The exceptions to this are certain specialist products where we have studied the market and negotiated special schemes with a single provider or providers. This could include Uninsured Loss Recovery, Family Legal Expenses, Key Recovery, Pet Insurance, Home Emergency and Vehicle Breakdown. If we are not advising on a fair analysis of the market, this will be confirmed to you. We operate a strict approval procedure in selecting the insurance providers we use. We cannot guarantee the financial reliability of any insurer. We do not normally assist in the recovery of uninsured losses, however for motor policies we do have recommended providers who can assist with this or we can offer an option to purchase cover for this service.

OUR REMUNERATION AND YOUR CHARGES

We may make and administration charge when a policy is taken out or renewed, and occasionally we take no commission at all and charge a fee for our services. Any fees and charges will be always be reasonable.

Providing copies of lost or defaced documents involves extra administration for which a charge of £10 may be made.

In addition to the amount charged by an insurer, a fee of £10 may be charged for the changes requiring the issue of a new cover note or revised documentation.

To enable us to cover the cost of credit control and sending reminders, we may charge up to £10 for each overdue reminder. Items unpaid after 14 days after notification are regarded as overdue.

In the course of our dealings with you we may introduce or refer you to other service providers with specialist expertise we feel can help you when a particular circumstances arise, for example in the recovery of uninsured losses. We may receive an introducer fee from the service provider.

POLICY CANCELLATION

If a policy is cancelled mid-term we will refund to you any premium but we may deduct the balance of our commission plus a £10 handling charge. COMPLAINTS AND COMPENSATION

We always aim to provide you with the highest level of service at all times but, if you are not satisfied, please contact the director on the contact details above.

When dealing with any complaint, we will follow our complaint handling procedures and if you would like a copy of this then this is available on request.
