Our “Love Your People” theme for the month of February is to Encourage People. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said, “Correction does much, but encouragement does more.” Raise your hand if you don’t like being encouraged! 

   THE 4th GRADE PERFORMS PLAY Mrs. Borter’s 4th Grade class recently performed in a play called Ranita, The Frog Princess. They invited their parents and grandparents to come enjoy the production. It was a full‐house and the students did a great job.   

             

  Mrs. Atkinson’s KINDERGARTEN CLASS recently celebrated “D” day by making dog masks and “H” day by having a hat day. As evidenced by these pictures, both days were a lot of fun. 

 2 HOUR DELAY DAY REMINDERS and SNOW DAY CALLS Just a friendly reminder to parents ‐ on 2‐hour delay days, students should not be dropped off at the school before 10:15 a.m. Also the Breakfast program is not available to students on those days. Thank you for helping us out in these situations. If you have not been receiving the phone calls to notify you of delays/cancellations please let Tina know in the office at (330)852‐2441 so that she can try to correct the situation. 

 GARAWAY MINI­CHEER BASKETBALL CLINIC The Garaway Mini‐Cheer Basketball Clinic will be held at Miller Avenue School on Saturday, February 6th for girls in Grades K‐6. The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m.­12 noon. with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Cost is $20 (each girl will receive a T‐shirt to wear for the performance). All girls who participate will receive free admission to the Garaway Boys’ Varsity Basketball game on Tuesday, February 9th against Ridgewood – wear your T‐shirt and get in free. They will perform at half‐time.    

THE 2015­2016 YEARBOOK ORDER DEADLINE HAS EXPIRED Miller Avenue’s 2015‐2016 deadline to purchase a yearbook has expired. We have purchased a small amount of extra yearbooks that will be for sale on a “first‐come, first‐serve” basis. When those copies run out, we will no longer be able to order additional copies, so please keep this in mind if wishing to purchase one. The cost of the yearbook is $18.00. Please make checks payable to Garaway Local Schools.    FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE HELP WANTED Any parent interested in helping to form a flag football league for boys and girls in Grades K‐3, please contact James Meek at (330)852‐3021.

GAME NIGHT AT SUGARCREEK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ‐ A night of 100% family fun and fellowship will be held at the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 21st from 4­7 p.m. A light supper will be served.  KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Kindergarten registration will be held Tuesday, March 15th through Friday, March 18th between 10:00­11:00 a.m. and 12:30­3:00 p.m. in each elementary school office.  Your child must be 5 years old before August 1st, 2016 to register.  Parents need to provide the child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and any parental custody records. Screening will be scheduled at the registration and held at a later date. Your child does not need to be present at the registration process.

Our Point of Sale Lunch/Breakfast System is in operation and is running smoothly. You now have the “option” to go online and manage your child’s account. You may deposit, for a small fee, using the Pay‐for‐It option. You will be able to set up an account and keep track of your child’s lunch/breakfast activity all on your own if you wish, although the cashier, Mrs. Christina Miller, is still able to take care of it for you if you prefer.  If you choose the option of sending it into the cashier, Breakfast and Lunch money can be sent in the same envelope for multiple students. Please be sure to indicate how the money should be applied to each Pin # (student) account. Please call the school office at (330)852‐2441 or send in a note if you have questions or concerns which can be directed to Tina Medley, Secretary or Christina Miller, Cashier – we both will be happy to help out in any way that we can.   MENUS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING ON THE GARAWAY HOME PAGE, go to www.garaway.org and click on Miller Avenue. Also Miller Avenue's menu for the month is live at http://garaway.nutrislice.com

We have been having quite a few students wanting the Pirate Lunch and we want to accommodate them, but please note the following:  

**Pirate Lunch = 1 extra main dish ­ $1.75 extra ­ Free/Reduced status students will also need to pay this amount. This must be paid for the morning that you wish to purchase. If your child has $ on account and you want to allow them to purchase a Pirate Lunch with the $ on his/her account, you will need to send a note in that morning stating that it is allowed.  

***February 2016 Lunch Menu is available online!***  Each Lunch also includes a choice of Fresh Vegetables & Fruits, The Garden Bar and a serving of milk per day. Week of February 8­12:
