The millennium development goals are goals set up by the UN so there would peace and a healthy global economy. They will achieve this by focusing on major issues e.g. children's health , poverty , empowerment with women and girls etc.

Malaria is a blood disease caused by a parasite that is transmitted by human-to-human by the Anopheles mosquito .

HIV stands for the "human immunodeficiency virus." In other words, it is a virus that infects human beings and leads to problems with their immune system.

AIDS is " acquired immune deficiency syndrome" which is caused by HIV. Our immune system is not strong enough to protect and fight off the infections.

Target 6.A : New HIV infections are decliningYoung people do not have knowledge of HIV transmission and the use of condoms remain low.

Target 6.B :access to treatment for people living with HIV increased in all regions.At the end of 2011, 8 million people were receiving antiretroviral therapy for HIV which has increased by over 1.4 million people from 2010.By the end of 2011, eleven countries had achieved universal access to antiretroviral therapy.

Target 6.C :1.1 million deaths by malaria were avoided since 2000Treatment for tuberculosis saved 20 million lives
