Why are we going?

• To promote life long learning of history, technology, math, nature & life skills.

• To reward ourselves for the work we’ve done @ JWMFT

• To have safe fun.

Where?

• Milford House is 21 km (14 mi) south of Annapolis Royal on Route #8, in South Milford, on Nova Scotia's Evangeline Trail. From Halifax Milford House is 218 km (133 mi)

What Will We Do?Visit to Grand Pré• French and English Tour

of the Historical Grand Pré Site.

• Film on the History of the Acadians.

What Will We Do?

Canoeing Playing soccerFishing FootballHiking Wild Wet LandsCampfiresSkitsSinging

How will we get there?

• We’ll take the students there in a bus.

• Everyone together.

Where will we sleep?

In beds in cabins with all the enmities.

• running hot/cold water• Indoor bathrooms• Bedrooms• Kitchenettes• In groups of friends (At

least one BFF per student) with at least one chaperon!

What will we eat?

Cafeteria style of meals will be prepared for us!• Pancakes• Toast• Cereal• Burgers• Grilled Cheese Sandwiches • Fries• Turkey Dinner

How will we be able to participate in ALL the

activities?Work Groups

Students will be assigned work groups before getting on the bus for Milford House.

Students will have participated in the selection process and are guaranteed to have at least one of their BFFs in their group.

What do He/She need to Bring?

• Clothes for 3 days• A sleeping bag• Rain gear• A small jacket• Bug Spray/nets• A bag lunch• A little pocket money for a stop @ Dairy Queen on

the way home ($10.00).• A GREAT ATTITUDE!

What can He/She also Bring?

The Answer is No… but/because!

• No cell phones!• No Portable DVD players.• No nut products - allergies• No personal snacks – those will be provided

for you!

What We Need From You!

1. Chaperons –moms and dads who are interested in coming with us as a chaperon (free)

2. Your child will need to sign some permission slips and a behavior matrix (already sent home)

3. Donations of snacks for campfires (later)

CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT FOR MILFORD HOUSE TRIP

• All students are required to follow all school rules and procedures, as outlined in the school's Code of Student Behaviour and as reviewed with all grade 6 students. The Code of Student Behaviour applies to all locations - bus, historical sites, tourist attractions, dining hall, cabins, and water - and with all supervising adults.

• All participating students and their parents/guardians are required to sign the contract below. Please review together (student with parent/guardian) the specific rules and procedures for each aspect of the trip.

• EXPECTATIONS:• BUS:Stay in your seat, sitting down, unless in an emergencyDon’t stick any part of the body out of the bus windowDon’t

throw objectsFollow all instructions offered by the bus driverLine up properly - no pushing and shovingAlways check in with your class list checker before boarding the busThe following may be brought for entertainment on the bus trip: disc players, travel games, hand-held video games, appropriate books and magazines. Those must be used quietly. Those items will be collected for the duration of the Milford stay upon arrival and returned for the return bus trip. The responsibility for any and all of these items rests with the ownersStay in your seat, sitting down, unless in an emergency

anticipation for securing safety is in place, that these educational activities have elements of risk associated with student participation. Accidents may occur and cause injury while going to or participating in these activities. A few examples of the type of accident for which one is at risk of having while participating are;
