Those wise by reason of their years have said, "Man learns to love, and slowly b l o o m s the flower
Most e loquent of b e a u t y — y e t m o r e red
The rose to which a heart jiives subtle power T h r o u g h nurture in the st i l lness of a breast.
U n k n o w n until within the rose expres sed ."
Your oaken doors have known a count less throng
Of hands that have outgrown the hurried touch .
Which quiet ly c o m e to you and tarry long .
And pause in love of that they loved so m u c h . And though years pass, the fortunate , returning.
Find you m o r e dear and m e m o r i e s still burning.
