MARCH NEWSLETTER 2020 Mildura Golf Resort Ph.50 23 11 47 www.milduragolfresort.com.au PRESIDENTS REPORT So nice to be coming into autumn and cooler weather, even some rain this week which was a pleasant experience. Golfing numbers through Feb have remained strong and the course which has been subject to water restricons, also has presented extremely well. So a big thank you to the members for your patronage and the Greens Staff for their incredibly professional workmanship. The Match Commiee: More informaon required for the ruling regarding the track adjacent the 16th fairway. “wheel marks and damage to the usual playing surface by motorised vehicles & implements is GUR”. Free relief may be taken under rule 16.1 This simply means those golfers who find themselves on the RHS track may only take a drop if they are in a tyre track created by an implement or motorised cart. You will then be able to take a drop in line with GUR rules. Being on the track will not otherwise mean a drop is allowable. We are looking to place more steps into our bunkers as a means of assisng our golfers who have difficules in accessing or egressing these bunkers. Should these steps inhibit your stance or swing, you make take a drop/placement. Hopefully this answers some of the many queries around the steps and what is allowed when taking relief. The new handicap system is now seling in and our knowledgeable Handicapper, Bev Stone will only be too happy to discuss these handicap changes with you if required. There has been a lot of local discussion and I feel there has also been many glitches during the setup but, our understanding is improving. Time will tell. Coming Events: Don’t forget our weekly Telstra Twilight 9 hole comp- comes to an end post daylight saving. Please be aware that there are several trees on the RHS heading up to the green on the 11th hole that are either dead or at best, in poor condion. The COM will be consulng with the Greens Commiee to find a resoluon that may remediate the remaining trees. Happy to take any comment from the members that could be of assistance. GOLF CARDS – The COM would like to nofy members that we are considering a me limit for the handing in and scanning of cards post your golf game. This problem relates to the last groups who may be taking too long in having their cards handed in due to pung away their clubs or having a social chat which delays their entry into the club house. We would consider 1750hrs hrs being the latest cards can be entered which will give us me to collate the scores and write up the presentaon notes for a 1800hrs presentaon. Please assist with this request which would be most appreciat- ed. GOLFING JOKES: A young man and a priest are playing to- gether. At a short par-3 the priest asks, “What are you going to use on this hole, my son?” The young man says, “An 8-iron, father. How about you?” The priest says, “I’m going to hit a soſt seven and pray.” The young man hits his 8-iron and puts the ball on the green. The priest tops his 7 -iron and dribbles the ball out a few yards. The young man says, “I don’t know about you, father, but in my church, when we pray, we keep our head down.” As a couple approaches the altar, the groom tells his wife-to-be: “Honey, I’ve got something to confess: I’m a golf nut, and every chance I get, I’ll be playing golf!” “Since we’re being honest,” replies the bride, “I have to tell you that I’m a hooker.” The groom replies: “That’s okay, honey. You just need to learn to keep your head down and your leſt arm straight.” Once again, wishing you all good golfing for March, Please look aſter yourselves & enjoy our beauful golf course Kind Regards Steven Fumberger, President MGR Email: [email protected]

Dear Mildura Golf Resort Members

As you are aware, COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as it is

more commonly known has created global health concerns

regarding the disease and its infection rates.

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and

guidance to our clubs and facilities on this important topic.

It is Golf Australia’s recommendation to clubs and facilities

that advice from the Australian Government’s Department

of Health should be monitored closely over the coming

days and weeks, as well as the Australian Government’s

Smartraveller website.

Member, Guest and Staff travel advice

If your members or guests have recently returned from or

transited through China, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mongolia or

South Korea in the past 14 days, we recommend that they

do not visit your facility for any reason – including use of

the golf course only – until the 14 day period has elapsed.

We further recommend that members or guests recently

returned from or who have transited through Cambodia,

Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand or from a

cruise holiday and who are experiencing flu-like symptoms

do not visit your facility, including use of the golf course

only, for 14 days.

For simple, easy to understand advice for your members

and guests including important health tips, you can also

refer to the World Health Organisation’s advice for the pub-

lic website.

Member, Guest and Staff health advice

Golf clubs and facilities are heavily trafficked, and there is a

chance that during this episode, a member, guest or mem-

ber of your staff will be exposed to, or test positive to,

COVID-19.

It is vitally important that if a member, guest or staff mem-

ber tests positive to COVID-19, they must inform the club/

facility as soon as possible. If this has occurred, anyone

testing positive will be contacted by the State/Territory De-

partment of Health in relation to contact tracing. You should

then take advice on ongoing facility operations from your

State/Territory Department of Health.

It should be noted that the vast majority of golfers can and

should continue to visit your clubs and facilities as per nor-

mal. However, it is important that our clubs and facilities

continue to be aware of government advice on this topic.

The virus and potential implications are changing constant-

ly and will be monitored accordingly, and Golf Australia will

continue to provide updates to clubs and facilities as regu-

larly as required, or alternatively when additional Federal

Government updates are announced.

For further information from the Federal Government on

COVID-19, the Coronavirus Health Information Line oper-

ates 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 1800 020 080.
