MIKAELA’S GEOMETRIC SOLID PRESENTATION
By: Mikaela Y. Schmidt
Definitions
Rec. is rectangular Tri is triangular Face is a flat surface on a polyhedron An edge is a line segment where 2
faces meet. Vertex is a point where 3 or more
edges meet in a solid figure.
The Cube
The cube has SIX faces which are a FLAT surfaces on a solid figure or a polyhedron
The Cube also has 12 edges which is a line segment where 2 faces meet.
And don’t forget the vertices! The cube has 8 of them!!! Vertices are also known as corners.
The Cone
The cone you may know as the ice cream cone!
The cone has 1 face at the bottom.
The cone also has 1 vertex.
A funny thing about the cone is that it has 0 edges!!!
You might see these outside with Honor Patrol!!!
This is an ice cream cone!!
The Sphere
It’s the round one that looks like a ball.
It has 0 vertex, 0 faces and 0 edges.
Here are a couple of examples
The Cylinder
If you have seen a soup can or a soda can then you have probably seen a cylinder.
The cylinder has 2 faces on the top and on the bottom.
There is 0 edges even though there is 2 faces the never meet to make an edge.
This is an example of a cylinder!!
This object was found in our own office!! Shapes are everywhere
The triangular pyramid
The tri. Pyramid has 4 faces!!
It also has 4 vertex!!!
The tri. Pyramid has 6 edges! These can sometimes be hard to find!
The Rectangular Pyramid
The rec. pyramid has 5 faces.
Like any other geometric solid it has vertex, it has 5 of them!
It has 8 edges.
This is a rec. pyramid.
The Triangular prism
The Triangular prism has 5 faces!!
It has 6 vertex and 7 edges!!
Like the tri. Pyramid it can be hard to find
The Rectangular Prism
The Rectangular Prism has 6 faces and 8 vertex.
It also has 12 edges!! This is an example of a rec. pyramid.
You may find one in your house!
