MIIS Welcome Welcome to the Multiple Intelligence International School! Thank you for taking an interest in our school. We embrace the old African saying, “It takes a Village, to raise a child” as we open our doors, not only to students, but to their families as well. Families are encouraged to partner with us in the formation of leaders who will use their intelligences to make a difference. We believe that all students have their own unique intelligences and we try to give them as many opportunities to discover, hone and apply their intelligences meaningfully through real-world learning. As a school founded on the theory of multiple intelligences, our students are raised in a culture of respect and are active, happy learners who learn their lessons through their different intelligences. MIIS is a pioneer in the Philippines for honing the innovative and creative entrepreneurial mind-set among our students. Our small student teacher ratio and progressive way of teaching has made learning more personal and meaningful. Children are more than a class number and teachers serve as their mentors. We encourage you to learn about our unique philosophy of education that prepares students for the demands of the 21st century. As an international school, we give students opportunities to learn to be global citizens and good environmental stewards. Our doors are open for you to get a glimpse of our school life, our students and our learning environment. We hope that your child finds that he/she can thrive in our school. We hope to give every child the precious gift of self-discovery in their journey of finding their purpose and passion! We hope to welcome you into our MI Family! Traditional School MIISVS

Multiple Intelligence International School was established in 1996 and shares the vision of a child-centered school that fosters the holistic development of the child - PHYSICAL, INTELLECTUAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, and MORAL - by providing meaningful relationships with teachers, positive home-school connections, a strong and developmentally appropriate curriculum and basic respect and love for the individual child. The MIIS ensures that teaching and learning is sensitive to individual differences among children and the development of their multiple intelligences.

The Ideal MI Student should embody:· COMPETENCE in various discipline areas by demonstrating the ability to think critically, innovate, problem-solve and embody an entrepreneurial mind-set· CHARACTER to act ethically and morally in the service of others by reflecting the pillars of character· LEADERSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY by being a good global citizen and steward for the environment· MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES USED FOR GOOD WORK by using one's intelligences to make a difference

What is an MI Student?

Why Choose us?

1. The students displayed increased independence, responsibility and self direction over the course of the year.2. Cooperative skills improved in all students.3. Ability to work multi-modally in student presentations increased throughout the school year with students using a minimum of three to five intelligence areas in their classroom reports.4. The more kinesthetic students particularly benefitted from the active process of moving from center to center.5. Leadership skills emerged in most students. Several students who had not previously displayed leadership abilities took the lead with their groups in the Music Center, the Building Center, the Art Center and particularly in the Working Together Center.6. Parents reported frequently that behavior improved at home, more positive attitudes about school were exhibited, and attendance was increased.7. Daily work with music and movement in content areas helped students retain information. At the end of the year, all students were able to remember several songs created as early as September which contained specific academic information.8. The role of the teacher changed as the year progressed, becoming less directive and more facilitative, more diversified, less of a taskmaster and more of a resource person and guide.9. Students became progressively more skilled at working effectively in this unique and non-traditional classroom format.10. Students previously identified as having behavioral problems made significant improvement in their behavior.

We are raising:

An action research project was undertaken to explore student reactions to a multiple intelligences-based instructional model. Student behavior, attitudes, and abilities to work in non-traditional ways such as with music, movement, visual arts and cooperation were studied. Ten hypotheses were validated according to these procedures:

Since 2000, the entrepreneurship program aims to develop a student's entrepreneurial mind-set that will enable them to problem solve and innovate. Through exposure to different mentors and tools in various fields, students can gain an understanding of themselves and possible careers that they can pursue. MIIS was awarded the Youth Entrpreneurship Enabler Award in 2009 by GoNegosyo.

Mentorship & Internship ProgramsIn line with enabling students to develop their different intelligences, MIIS has a mentorship program that gives students programs that encompass a range of interests. Students gain real-world experience through student internships in the upper school which fosters 21st century skills and Internationalism.

Co-Curricular ActivitiesThe student life in MIIS is rich with activities that enable students to enhance their learning. Co-curricular activities help students gain 21st century skills through a variety of performance based learning such as: Literacy day, quiz bees, musical performances, debates, plays, science fairs, entrepreneurial bazaar, intramurals, portfolio nights, exhibits, year-end program and field trips. Students are given opportunities to go to local and international field trips. A rich service curriculum also brings out the leader in students.

Enrichment and Extra-curricular ActivitiesEnrichment activities are after-school special-interest programs which students can enroll in such as sports, music, art and theater programs. These activities will help enhance the development of the specific area/s of intelligence where the child displays most strength.

John ChuaTo my classmates and teachers from M.I. I miss you guys. To my teachers thank you for the hard work. I remember about Camp, Linggo ng Wika, Portfolio Night, and Iron Chef. One thing I learned from MI is to be responsible. To my friends and classmates thanks for the laughter and I just wanted to say good luck to all of you I hope that you guys have a great future because we are all smart in our own way. I hope when I come back there I'll visit you guys! I'm proud to be an MI student. (Former MI Student now based in Canada)

Bernice Dy Batch 2011My attitude and perspective changed because my high school life has been a life changing experience. MI makes me want to go to school. It is a place where I found people I could rely on for the rest of my life. Thank you MI for helping me discover the leader in me. I am grateful that you have given me the opportunity to find myself , be confident and influence others in a positive way.

From Jane, Harry and Sammy’s mom in Korea The best thing I did in the Philippines was to choose your school. I will keep the memory forever. (Former MI Student now back in Korea)

Trena and Kevin Yonkers-Talz - Parents of Sophia, Grace, Hannah & EmmaIt is with immense gratitude and sadness that we write this letter to the MI community. It has been truly a gift to be a part of the MI family and we have seen our girls blossom in the time that they have been with you. It has been a place for them to call home in a foreign land and now that it is time to go, they are very sad at the thought of leaving so many people they have grown to love.

As educators, we are so impressed with the entire MI community. The administrators have always gone above and beyond in responding to our needs and concerns. The kuyas and ates have been so attentive to the well being and safety of our girls. And, of course, the teachers have shown incredible dedication to the educational experience and personal needs / interests of our daughters. (American Family based in El Salvador )

Anjali Bisht - mom of Diya and RanveerNow that we have come back to India we are going to miss MI, but we are glad that the school has added value to our kids' educational background and our Philippines stay too. While studying in MI our kids never failed to surprise us !! They knew everything that was mentioned in their weekly schedules , they learnt to work independently and in groups as well!! It was a relief to see how each student is treated individually , helping them to know themselves better... concept wise perfect!! We were impressed to see the level of engagement of Teacher Joy in every event throughout the sessions! (Bisht Family now back in India )

“...At the MI International Foundation School in the Philippines, I saw impressive integration of MI ideas under a rubric of education for understanding.”

Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligences: New Horizons,

What they say...

Miguel Hernandez Batch 2011I remember going to the grade school everyday and seeing the words “ It takes a village to raise a child”. For the past six years, MI has been my village and I think it has done well in guiding me through my early life. Six years ago, I transferred from a traditional school to MI. I was shy, insecure and unsure of my abilities. I am now more confident about myself and my abilities and strengths. I have learned that I am capable of making a difference. I will forever be grateful for what it has done for me. I will always remember MI as the school that was instrumental in changing me as a person. It will always be the village that raised this child.
