Types of Migration
Voluntary Migration when people move of their own free will usually trying to find a better standard of living Example: moving for jobs and higher wages -
economic migrants World example:
Forced Migration
migrating because of war, persecution, natural disaster
Refugees – people who have been forced to leave their homes
Refugee Camp World Example:
Permanent (long term) Migration When people move forever, to find a new
place to live and don’t plan on returning. World Example:
Temporary (short term) Migration When people don’t move forever – they
always intend to go home at some point in the future.
