Middlesbrough Mela has become one of

the biggest and most spectacular multi-

cultural festivals in the North East. Once

again, this year offers a fabulous mix of

music, food, fashion and fun. Set in the

new location of Centre Square in the

heart of Middlesbrough Town Centre,

this year’s Mela brings you world class

music, local talent, the Mela Bazaar full

of stalls and a range of activities for the

family to enjoy.

The Saturday Sports Mela 8 June is

dedicated to health and wellbeing, giving

you a chance to participate and enjoy

healthy activities. The day promises a

vibrant programme of professionals and

local groups showcasing their fantastic

skills on the main stage. You can also

take part in a wide range of workshops

and activities across the site.

Sunday 9 June sees a world-class line

up of music acts take to the main stage,

including the Notorious Jatt, Elena

Catalano, Heera, Navin Kundra, Kee, H –

Dhami, and many more hosted by Bobby

Friction.

Throughout both Mela days you can

enjoy the fashions, food, crafts &

international wares available in the

Mela Bazaar, take a look at some of

the local talents promoted by Humanah

CIC on the community stage, or enjoy

fairground rides and other activities

around the site.

The Middlesbrough Mela promises to

be yet another fantastic weekend – we

would love to see you there!

The Mela Management Committee gratefully

around the country.

Host – Bobby FrictionBobby Friction has made a career out of representing British Asian

sound; on the turntables, as a recording artist and on-air. He is better

known for his Radio 1 show, Bobby Friction & Nihal presents. He is a multi

award winner and has appeared in various TV documentaries, shows and

outdoor events with regular spots at Glastonbury. He even has his own

monthly column in Rolling Stone Magazine.

H-DhamiNotably hailing from a family of musical background; son of

Palvinder Dhami from the legendary Bhangra band HEERA,

H-Dhami was subject to a blue chip roster of production hands

such as Rishi Rich when creating what retailer Amazon called; most

downloaded digital Bhangra album of our time.

Four years on from the release of “Sadke Java”, this summer sees

the release of his DVD, more singles and a brand new album. He is

the industry’s most hottest property at the moment.
