Cricket YEAR 8/9 KNOCKOUT ROUND 1 SHC MIDDLE SCHOOL v BRIGHTON HIGH After losing the toss on an overcast morning at Brighton High, Sacred Heart were sent in to bat. Top three batsmen, A Sareen (22), E Moore (9) and O Woolford (17) got Sacred Heart off to a flyer. We were in a commanding position early, being 1/47 after our first ten overs. T Pearce (30) then consolidated in the middle-late overs, accumulating a very solid 30 not out. Sacred Heart finished with a convincing 132 off their 30 overs. With the ball, we were just as impressive. Wickets were shared amongst the boys, with most bowlers picking up one or two wickets. B Thompson and J Fitzgerald managed to rattle some of the Brighton top-order early in the innings, with B Thompson taking an impressive 1 for 2 off his 6 overs. M Fitzgerald, A Siemelink and A Sareen all played their part with the ball, managing two wickets each. Brighton were eventually bowled out in the 30th over 28 runs short of our total. It was good to see so many contributors in the first match of our knockout campaign and judging by one game, Sacred Heart will again be a force to be reckoned with. Congratulations to captain, A Sareen and the boys. Please see Page 2 for information on CEA programs and fixtures.
