River Road • Tucson, Arizona 85718 Testing for Gifted Services Mid-year Administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test In accordance with state requirements, the Cognitive Abilities Test, (CogAT) is offered at different times during the year to assess verbal, quantitative, and non- verbal reasoning abilities. The CogAT is used to identify students for gifted services and is required for students who wish to be considered for Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) at grades 3, 4, and 5. Only students in grades 3-5 WHO ARE NEW TO THE SCHOOL OR HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED IN THE PAST TWO YEARS are eligible to test at this time. Students who have been tested or are currently receiving gifted services do not retest. It is recommended that parents consult with the classroom teacher and/or gifted specialist, Ms. Kalish, before requesting testing. The testing, which is done before school in the IDS classroom, takes 3 sessions to complete. These sessions will begin promptly at 7:30am at Ventana Vista Elementary on the dates below:  Wednesday, January 6, 2016  Thursday, January 7, 2016  Monday, January 11, 2016 Students must be present for all three testing sessions. Parents must request testing in writing by December 18, 2015. Permission forms are available in the school office.

Testing for Gifted Services

Mid-year Administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test
