Strategic VisionThe Study is to put in place a framework

and continuous process for the next thirty years for the development of the Mid-West Region. The development of a strategic vision shall be formulated to ensure the balanced growth of the Study Area, thereby allowing the region to reach its fullest potential in terms of achieving maximum social, economic, physical and cultural advantage for its citizens.

Study Requirements

The Study will be required to:Establish the criteria and performance indicators by which alternative development strategies and transport schemes are to be assessed (such criteria should be referenced to the results of the consultations and where possible to spatially referenced data).Identify a preferred long-term transport and land use development strategy for the Mid-West Region.Identify policies, schemes and measures required to implement the strategy, including infrastructural and funding requirements.Consider and make recommendations on administrative and institutional arrangements to support the implementation of the strategy.Demonstrate how strategies and schemes contribute towards policy objectives with respect to quality of life, the spatial aspects of social issues, the environment and the local economy.Consider and make recommendations on the promotion of the strategy.
