Operation Frederick Douglass
Situation
• The United States of America is endowed (given) with a rich history…
• Crossing Horizons inspires us to dream and clarify our life mission
• Profound ignorance in the land of the freedom and opportunity
Mission
During 14-20 June 2015 (Sunday-Saturday), Como Park MCJROTC
conducts an Orientation Tour (Operation Frederick Douglass) in
Washington D.C. and other national landmarks in order to value
citizenship as informed, responsible and patriotic Americans.
Execution
• Commander’s Intent – This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Everyone will conduct themselves with the highest honor and respect for the American Heritage. Everyone confronting our organization will say…?• Concept of Ops – The Tour will be conducted as a guided tour that
integrates additional fitness, team-building and chain of command activities. Cadets will be required to complete a pre-trip group research project that culminates in brief or activity at the actual site.• Operational Risk Management (ORM) – Risks that require mitigation
include a lost cadet and swimming activities in Potomac River.

LINCOLN• Poem by David Shumate
• If it weren't for the photographs, you might think Aeschylus orEuripides had made him up. Or that he was one of those biblicalfellows tormented to the brink of what a soul can bear. But therehe stands. Long black coat. Tall hat. Half a beard. Droopy eyes. Earslarge enough to serve several men. Like the offspring of a midwifeand a coroner. A tree impersonating a man. Alongside him, hisgenerals seem daunted. Anxious for the day they too will growinto men. Then there's that odd mix of joy and sorrow etchedacross his face. As when a joke hits a little too close to home. Givenall that's gone on—Gettysburg, Antietam, both Bull Runs, fourlong years of war, more than half a million dead, a wife moaningon the balconies, a child in the grave—Given all that ... why hasn'this hair turned pure white?
