Spring 2017 Issue

Spring District Meeting and Luncheon Our Spring Meeting will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at WHITE FENCE FARM. Council 16 will be our host. White Fence Farm is located at 1376 Joliet Road, Romeoville, IL 60446. Our meeting will begin at 1:00pm. Cost of the lunch will be $22.50 per person. This includes a wonderful meal of: Their Famous White Fence Farm Chicken; Kidney Bean Salad; Pickled Beets; Cottage Cheese; Cole Slaw; Baked Potato; Corn Fritters; Vanilla Ice Cream and your choice of one beverage (Non-alcoholic). Our Lady of Šiluva Monthly Mass Members are reminded that a monthly Mass in honor of Our Lady of Šiluva is said on the first Friday of every month at St. Pius X Parish, 4314 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, IL 60402. Everyone is invited to attend. The Mass is held at 7:00pm, in English, with the Šiluva Novena Prayers recited afterward. The next Mass will be on Friday, June 2, 2017.

2017 Concerts and Movies in the Park Once again, the district members will be attending the free concerts/movies at Millennium Park this summer. Concerts normally begin around 6:30pm and our group sits on the lawn in the northwest corner of the field. A complete listing of Concerts and Movies is listed later in this issue. Those that we are currently considering attending have been highlighted. Finally, we will cancel our attendance if the weather is bad. Hope to see you in the park!

2017 Summer District Outings As we prepare to enjoy our summer season, many members have asked about summer outings. The district board has considered many options and will present some ideas at the Spring Meeting on the 11th. Some of the things being considered are a Miniature Golf Day; Chicago Boat Tour; and A Night at Hofbrauhaus Chicago in Rosemont, IL. If any of these outings appeal to you or if you have some your own please let us know.

Lithuanian Centennial T-Shirts The Knights of Lithuania is currently running an on-line t-shirt sale of shirts celebrating Lithuania’s Centennial in 2018. The drive runs through June 12th. Mid-America District Bowling Our monthly distirct bowling has concluded for the 2016-2017 season. The 2017-2018 season will begin on Saturday, September 16, 2017. As always, we will start at 4:00pm at El Mar Lanes, 8435 South Harlem Avenue, Bridgeview, IL 60455. Please see the district calendar for additional bowling dates. Come on out and bowl with us or cheer on your favorite district bowler. After bowling those who wish to head out to dinner as a group. As always, all our

thanks to Sports Chair, Tony Armalis, for all his work in coordinating our bowling season.

Mid-America District Fall Pilgrimage Our Annual District Pilgrimage will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017. This year’s pilgrimage will be a local one. We will be visiting St. Stanislaus Kostka Church which is the Sanctuary of The Divine Mercy. St. Stanislaus is located on Chicago’s North side just off of I-90/94. Complete details will be printed in the Fall issue of The Trumpet.
