Small airports may use these, cuz they’re cheap 7. VOR – Very High Frequency Omni Directional Range 8. DME – Distance Measuring System Pilots Situational Awareness 1. GPWS – Ground Proximity Warning System “Radar Altimeter” 2. TAWS – Terrain Awareness Warning System a. Digital terrain map/GPS 3. OCAS – Obstacle Collision Avoidance System a. Onboard radar of the aircraft 4. Synthetic Vision a. Computer generation of outside environment 5. PCAS – Portable Collision Avoidance System a. Listens passively to other transponders interrogations
