FULL-SERVICE STAR MANAGER FULL-SERVICE STAR ASSOCIATE

Anita Knight of the Holiday Inn Airport and Conference Center Memphis is HMC’s STAR Full-Service Manager of the Quarter.

Front Office Manager Anita joined the Holiday Inn Memphis Airport as a Guest Service Agent and was promoted to Front Office manager not long after. She is dedicated to serving our guests at all times and goes above and beyond to ensure every guest is satisfied. She will often work 12-14 hour shifts just to make sure groups & events go smoothly.

Anita does not hesitate to come in on her off days to cover an open shift, be an extra driver, or complete payroll. She also creates incentive games for things such as enrollment numbers or high scores. You will regularly see treats she has brought her team to brighten their day and keep everyone happy and working together.

She updates the team on our scores during the monthly luncheons and always finds a positive review to offset any negative comment received. Anita makes a point to thank all staff members for their hard work and dedication and makes everyone feel like part of the team. Anita’s attitude, hard work, dedication and work ethic prove how much of a STAR she really is and she is a valuable asset we are lucky to have on our team!

This issue’s STAR Full-Service Associate of the Quarter is Scott Hodgson from the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey. Scott has been employed by the hotel as a Front Desk Agent and Van Driver since November 2013.

The majority of our return guests recognize and know “Scott from Scotland” as he likes to tell everyone, in his native brogue. Guest Comments:

“My husband and I decided to take our 2 daughters on vacation here and had a wonderful time. The hotel was so clean and the staff was so welcoming. We had a great experience, especially with Scott - he was really helpful and friendly. It made our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!”

“I had one of the most amazing front desk check-in experiences, Scott Hodgson was kind, expedient and knowledgeable. I am originally from the area but a lot had changed since my last visit, and Scott provided information about changes to the traffic patterns and area excitement. Kathy Starr has been named Select-Service STAR Associate of the quarter from the Baymont Inn & Suites in Big Spring, Texas.

Kathy has been a true “STAR” associate. She has been with the Baymont for the past two years and greets every customer with a smile and a little extra attention. The hotel gets numerous acknowledgements and praise from guests, as her enthusiasm is infectious.

She’s a team player and never hesitates to help another department when they’re in need. Kathy is also a mentor to all of her team members.

Running a kitchen for several crews that arrive at the same time can be incredibly challenging, but she makes it look easy. She understands that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for many hard working folks staying at the hotel and she strives to be involved and approachable to all her customers.

Thank you Kathy for taking special care to assure all of the visitors to your hotel are well taken care of.

Congratulations to Lilia Murguia who has been chosen as our STAR Select-Service Manager from the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Anaheim.

Lilia is an extremely hard worker and leads by example. She has the unenviable task of overseeing a housekeeping dept. with 174 rooms and over 500+ guests per night.

She has a very pleasant and professional demeanor and is always willing to go the extra mile to do whatever she can to exceed guest expectations. Lilia is out on the floor in the public eye and isn’t shy to step in and solve a guest request, is always the first to say “Hello” and is proactive in scheduling her service cycles well in advance so there is always consistency and quality in her team’s work.

Just recently, a guest shared on social media that he travels to the area a few times a year with his family. He specifically chose the hotel based on the cleanliness comments. He mentioned that sometimes in some hotels “corners are cut” to get rooms turned quickly and could tell through Lili’s direction, her Guest Room Attendants are thorough, dedicated and obviously enjoy their jobs with their countless smiles. She and her staff can also take great pride in assisting in a #7 out #118 rating of Anaheim hotels on TripAdvisor®. It is a monmumental feat to keep this ranking high with the number of families and guests that are serviced nightly. Lilia shared with David (GM), “it’s not work when you enjoy what you’re doing.” She noted she found a new love for hospitality and, “taking care of people when they are in your house.”

Well done Lilia. We appreciate all you do to make Country Inn & Suites Anaheim shine!
