The industrial and gritty culture of craft breweries is a perfect match for Oakland blue- ‐collar vibe. And to top off the creative spirit, Oakland is doubling down in their art scene with street murals, turf dancing, and art events happening throughout the year.

Come and be welcome, enjoy Oakland’s hospitality and let us provide you with an exceptional educational and social experience. See you at NASPEM 2018!! Dr. Shannon Siegel, [email protected]

Purpose: NASPEM holds a biennial conference alternating with the European Group of Pediatric Work Physiology (PWP) to encourage an international exchange of ideas and research collaborations. Our meetings are a unique professional gathering with leading authorities presenting research advances and program developments focused exclusively on the pediatric population. NASPEM emphasizes student participation with student-‐focused research awards and grants.

Format: See the Conference Program at a Glance section. The Conference consists of keynote and invited lectures, with several speakers presenting their unique research and perspectives on future directions for research in the pediatric exercise sciences. You will be able to attend both peer-‐reviewed open oral communications, as well as poster sessions with dedicated time for interaction and discussion. All activities are singular events without parallel sessions. This format stimulates awareness of the breadth of research within Pediatric Exercise Science and encourages an exchange of ideas and interaction between established and young researchers.

Topics: See the Keynote /Invited Speakers & Topics section. This year the Dr. Oded Bar-‐Or Memorial lecture will be given by Dr. Lars Bo Andersen: Challenging the paradigm of sedentary behavior and benefits of light and moderate intensity physical activity. In addition, we will continue the Dr. Tom Rowland Series with invited speakers Drs. Alex Rowlands and Paolo Pianosi. The keynote addresses and symposia topics for the conference will include: Physical Literacy, Outdoor Recreation and Youth, Predicting Maturity Offset, Pediatric Exercise Medicine: Time for Disruptive Innovation, and our American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Exchange Lecture Series featuring Dr. Tracy Zaslow on Hot Topics in Pediatric Sports Medicine.
