ABOUT THE DE PA RTMENT

The Department of EEE was started in the year 1994. The Post graduate program (M.E) in Power Electronics and Drives was started in 2002.There are about 35 faculty members in the department. The UG program in the department has been accredited by the NBA for a period of 5 years. The Anna University

affiliated Research Center functions from the year 2006.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Finite Element Method (FEM) is one of the popular methods in the design and analysis of electrical machines. Finite element analysis methodology nowadays has been incorporated in to commercial CAD packages. This workshop aims to introduce the rudiments of finite element method and its application in the analysis of electrical apparatus. The salient features of the electromagnetic field analysis CAD package MagNet will be introduced. The application of MagNet software in the analysis of static and dynamic electrical machines will be demonstrated. Hands on sessions will enable the participant to acquire proficiency in the operation of CAD package. The learning experience through this workshop will motivate the participants to explore further in this exciting field.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED

• Introduction about Finite Element Analysis.• Tutorial on Solving Planar And Axis

Symmetry Problem Using Magnet Software• Static & Transient 2D Analysis Of Machines

Using Magnet And ThermNet Software• Static & Transient 3D Analysis of Machines
