I’m pleased to introduce the Microsoft Services Readiness catalogue.
This catalogue provides a comprehensive overview of Readiness
Programs provided and delivered by Microsoft Services. The goal is to
help our Customers and Partners with guidance, achieving thought
leadership as well as delivery excellence across multiple areas such as
Business Consultancy, Sales, Delivery (IT Professionals & Developers)
and Advanced Support.
The Microsoft Services Readiness Programs represent our global experiences in working
with customers on common problems. Our structured processes formally identify and
harvest best practices, and apply engineering rigor to produce generally consumable
Readiness Programs. This represents a new and unique value to our Markets. With these
Readiness Programs, we can help our customers Reduce Time to Market by providing
lessons learnt; Reduce Project Risks by leveraging our experience from around the
world; Reduce Deployment and Management costs through the positive economics of
repeatability, and provide outcome-based services scenarios to participants allowing

Overview Masterclasses provide partners and customers a unique way to get acquainted with the
reallife experiences of Microsoft consultants. Masterclasses are often scenario-based
and can touch many products, of which an existing solid base of knowledge is expected
from the participants. In this respect, Masterclasses are not like product trainings. For
example during Masterclasses, experience in the field of architecture and deployment,
scenarios, and cases is actively shared between attendees. During the Masterclasss
Microsoft Consultants also share their experiences, tools & frameworks from earlier
projects as well as best practices.
Target group There are different types of Masterclasses:
TechNet Masterclasses, for IT professionals.
MSDN Masterclasses, for Developers.
Business Masterclasses, for Business Consultants ,
Management, or general advisory functions.
Content Content-wise Masterclasses go significantly in-depth (Level 300-400).
In order to be able to cope with the expectations of all Masterclasses
there are prerequisites which candidates must satisfy in order to
take part in a Masterclass. This is to ensure that the level is pitched
right for all attendees and so that they can maximize the value
gained.

Delivery model All readiness sessions mentioned in this catalogue, are, or will be, published for registration, as so called Open Sessions. However, to serve the needs of our customers and partners we have different delivery models. Hereby we provide customers and partners the option to get custom sessions, for specific audiences, at the location of their choice (i.e.: on premise). The figure below presents an overview of the available options.

Prerequisites, Microsoft Training & Certification Microsoft Masterclasses and have a high technical level (level 300-400). Without a sound product knowledge and experience of the participant, the Masterclass will not have the desired learning effect. Microsoft therefore recommends attendees to achieve the product certification for the level of a MCTS or MCITP. Detailed pre-requisites are listed in this catalogue on a per session base. For an overview of the official Microsoft product training and certification options, visit www.microsoft.com/learning . In the Netherlands such training and certification are provided by Microsoft Learning partners. These can be found here.
Session Level Descriptions To ensure that participants get the most out of each session, the technical level of the session has been included. Classification has been done in accordance with the classic undergraduate class model and the description of each level is listed below.
100 level: Is an introduction to the topic or overview. The 100-level assumes little or no expertise with the topic being covered.
200 level: Assumes 100-level knowledge and a fairly complete understanding of the features. The 200-level may discuss case studies that cover a breadth of common scenarios or explain how to use more advanced features.
300 level: Assumes 200-level knowledge and an in-depth understanding of product features in a real-world environment. The 300-level may go into unusual case studies that illustrate specific aspects of the product that are key to improving performance or interoperability.
400 level: Assumes the deepest level of technical knowledge we expect a participant to have. The 400-level are essentially expert-to-expert sessions. The content provides the means for customers to push products to maximum performance, achieve the broadest possible interoperability, and create applications using even the most advanced
features.

Readiness Portfolio & Planning The intent of this Microsoft Readiness Catalogue is to provide customers & partners with insight into the Microsoft’s Readiness Portfolio. This portfolio shifts as we learn more about what our customers & partners are experiencing, what their needs are, and what kind of experiences Microsoft Services consultants are able to share. As such, the content of this Microsoft Readiness Catalogue can and will change. We therefore humbly recommend that viewers of this document interpret this information as Microsoft Services’ attempt to provide greater transparency and consistency in how we work with customers & partners, but realize that information will change based on market conditions. IMPULS is a practical approach to the new way of working in the dynamic business world. In this 2-day Microsoft Masterclass you’ll learn how the trend towards cloud computing will transform the IT landscape. We will explain what needs exist from different perspectives, business strategy, governance, service management, sourcing, costs (Capex to Opex), management, security and functionality. Cloud computing makes new business strategies possible and can bring new revenue opportunities. A user organization is getting more choices regarding the combination of locally installed software and services “in the cloud”. Module 6:Organizing Cloud Computing – This module provides information on all non-technical issues like governance, organization implications, legal, security and contract management that arise in the use of cloud technology. .
Module 6: SaaS: This module explains the Microsoft SaaS solutions (Office 365, CRM Online, Windows InTune) and how these can be embedded into an existing landscape, what the motivations might be and where those solutions are not appropriate. Module 7: Integration Challenges and Solutions: This module will explain the integration challenges between Cloud solutions and existing environments. Module 8: Security Challenges & Solutions This module explains the security challenges and solutions between Cloud and existing environments and Cloud-only scenarios. TechNet Masterclasses Microsoft Services has a long history in creating and delivering Masterclasses. The
transfer of knowledge and experience are a top priority for Microsoft Services and
Masterclasses provide an excellent channel to contribute to this objective. At the same
time they offer a unique way to communicate with partners and customers, enhancing
their customer and partner experience. Microsoft Services Masterclasses are not
ordinary off-the-shelf training courses but are created and maintained by the Microsoft
Consultants themselves, drawing upon years of experience and expertise.
Personally, I regard the fact that Microsoft Services allows me to share my knowledge
and experience through the development and delivery of Masterclasses as one of the
nicer aspects of my job. In the five years that I have been working as an Infrastructure
Consultant I have had the opportunity to develop a Masterclass at least once every year:
on great products such as Exchange 2010 and OCS 2007 R2 for example. And right now
my colleagues and I are working on the BPOS Deployment & Coexistence Masterclass.
I believe customers have much to gain from Masterclass participation. They provide a
unique opportunity to gather knowledge and experience of the latest and greatest
Microsoft products, in small groups. In addition, participants have the possibility to hear
first-hand from Microsoft Consultants themselves how they believe the products should
be designed and implemented. That sounding board function of a Masterclass usually
provides information and insights that are not normally to be found in blogs, books or
TechNet articles.
Often, these insights are based on the experiences the consultant gained during the
product’s pre-release test and implementation phases in so-called Rapid Deployment
(RDP) or Technology Adoption Programs (TAP).

This Masterclass provides insight in the important processes of the deployment of Windows 7 and Office 2010. It will give participants a high level overview on how to deploy Windows 7 within their organization and increase the predictability of a migration. The participants will also have the opportunity to exchange experiences and define migration solutions for their organization. Topics that will be addressed are the design of a desktop, the deployment infrastructure and the new client features of Windows 7 and Office 2010 related to the deployment process. Microsoft Services experiences will be shared from actual desktop deployment projects based on the DOWO Service Line Offering: Desktop Optimization using Windows and Office. TARGET AUDIENCE This Masterclass is intended for architects with a technical background and consultants or technical employees who are responsible for deployment within their organization.

Module 2: Architecture – This module provides an in depth explanation of the underlying architecture of DPM, looking at ports used, server components such as task executor and dependant technologies such as VSS.
Module 3: Workflow – This module covers in detail under the bonnet workflows that are occurring to allow DPM to achieve its functionality. This covers how data flows between a DPM agent and the DPM server and how other concepts such as replica creation, consistency checks and recovery points work.
Module 4: Planning and Configuration – This module looks at the design questions that need to be considered for a DPM installation, and also covers configuration of protection group best practices.
