Inspiration for the presentation was an exhibition in Museum für Fotografie in Berlin.

Microphotography - what is that?

• A photography taken through a microscope or similar device to show a magnified image of an item.

• John B. Dancer used it for the first time in 1839; he achieved reduction ratio of 160:1.

• For many years was perceived as “somewhat trifling and childish.” Dictionary of Photography, 1858.

• Since 20th century – two separated ways of develop-ment – art and science.
