Four National Occupational Standards now on UK database

◦ Prepare the jack-up barge for offshore operation ◦ Transit the (non-propelled) jack-up barge to and from operational site ◦ Position and refloat the jack-up barge ◦ Maintain the stability of the jack-up barge at the operational site

Qualification units (learning outcomes and assessment criteria) written from each of these

Plus three more on:

◦ Transfer personnel to/from and between vessels and the jack-up barge offshore

◦ Plan and carry out jack-up barge loading and discharge of cargo offshore ◦ Plan and carry out jack-up barge loading and discharge of bulk liquid cargo

We know what people need to learn but..

Employers will want to know how long a course will take, how much it will cost, and how it will be structured

Training provider will want to know how many learners there will be and how much they are going to pay

IJUBOA needs to co-ordinate demand and assemble viable groups of learners

1. Assemble a critical mass of barge workers with broadly similar learning needs and source a training programme for them.

2. Mobilise the demand for the managers training course and find an organisation to deliver it.

3. Design & produce training log book for those new(ish) to the job

4. Identify opportunities to fund research to produce Labour Market Intelligence on future demand for skilled barge workers

5. Promote the use of and demand for IJUBOA Learning & Skills products by offshore construction sector
