    PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a unique candidate with over 4 years of international experience in Shanghai, mainly at the Shanghai Community International School. As a US citizen with fluency in Spanish, Chinese, and Korean, I can provide a valuable asset to an international community as a fellow global citizen.

I moved to Shanghai, China, after working in pediatric healthcare. My main reason for moving there was to

improve my Mandarin Chinese enough to use it in professional settings. I figured that I could always find some kind of work if I could speak English, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean.

Once in Shanghai, I found various work with sports and kids, particularly in the large expat community. One

of these jobs was substitute teaching in PE and coaching basketball at the Shanghai Community International School. SCIS soon asked me to teach many other subjects because I was capable and could easily connect to the students, especially the ones who knew me from my work with after-school sports programs. I found great satisfaction in particularly helping both American and Korean kids who may have difficulty adapting in international environments.

SCIS had a job offer ready for me as a Lower School PE teacher, but due to the nature of China visa laws, both

sides were met with a disappointing result. However, I look forward to finding work in another thriving academic community as I begin the next chapter of life!
