Miami's reputation as a party city has grown since the days of Miami Vice through the birth of the Art Deco fashion district in the early 1990s and

the more recent explosion of the South Beach club scene.

An airboat tour is the best way to discover Florida's River of Grass and its alligators, birds, otters, fish, turtles and other wildlife.

Cocowalk in Coconut Grove offers roughly 30 stores and restaurants in an outdoor mall. While there are a handful of chain stores, the shopping center features mostly independent shops selling clothing, accessories,

perfume and the like.

The Port of Miami is a major departure point for Caribbean cruises.

South Beach.

Located in Miami Gardens, a Miami suburb, Dolphin Stadium is home to the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins.

Created by sculptor Kenneth Treister, the Holocaust Memorial of Miami Beach contains a number of sculptures and gardens honoring the 6 million Holocaust victims. The centerpiece of the memorial is the Sculpture of Love and Anguish, a 42-foot-high bronze arm reaching heavenward.

At the Miami Seaquarium, you can see the lagoon where the TV show Flipper was filmed, or you can swim with a dolphin yourself. The aquatic park also houses manatees, sharks, tropical birds, crocodiles, and other

local fauna.

The Miami metropolitan area has a population of more than 5 million, with growth in recent years fueled by immigration from both inside and

outside the U.S.

The Homestead-Miami Speedway was built as part of a plan to revitalize the city of Homestead after the devastation of Hurricane Andrew (1992).

The 1.5-mile oval is one of the most beautiful tracks in the country, evoking the art deco colors and architecture of downtown Miami.

The Miami Beach Marina, close to downtown, offers easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway, Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys.
