Attention Junior High Parents,
Miami ISO has ordered a Chromebook for each 5th-8th grade student; this will enable us to implement a
1:1 technology program for our junior high. The primary objective of this plan is to provide more access to
technology for our junior high students in the classroom. We are modeling this 1:1 program after our high
school laptop 1:1 program. The students will be issued a Chromebook and a carrying case. They will be
responsible for bringing the Chromebook to class, charged and ready to use each day. They will be able to take
these devices home if they so choose, however they will also be held accountable for responsibly using the
device and maintaining the physical condition of the device. Before we can send your student home with their
Chromebook we have an obligation to provide you and the student with information regarding their liability and
responsibilities.
Attached is a copy of our acceptable use policy, this covers details on what is and is not acceptable
concerning the student using school provided technology resources. It also outlines discipline actions that may
occur if the student violates this policy. There is also our new Junior High Technology Agreement; this details the
financial responsibility of both you and the student.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this program feel free to contact me personally either
via the schools phone number (806-868-3971) or my email ([email protected]). Keep in mind this is not a
mandatory program, however the teachers are heavily encouraged to make use of this new technology and
your student may be at some disadvantage not having access to district technology resources. There can also be
special conditions made, for instance if you want your student to have access to the resources at school but not
at home, this can be arranged.
Sincerely,
Tara Royal
Miami ISO Technology Director
