The Concept
• To design and create an app that translates vocational words into BSL signs
• To facilitate teaching and learning
• To assist BSL users to communicate in an educational and vocational environment
Our Partners
• All partners were involved in LSIS MoLeNET 3• Doncaster College for the Deaf approached
The Sheffield College who then introduced The Learning Skills Network
• Together we are developing Mi-Sign
Branding
• A brand was created to be instantly recognisable
Walkthrough
• 2 options – Search (A-Z, Predictive)
– Category (Generic vocational areas)
• Image and word
• Sign (BSL translation)
Developing Content
• Chose initial vocational area
• Taken and edited photographs
• Videoed and edited BSL signs
• Uploaded to MoLe TV Channel
• App will use data from the channel
Next Steps
• Trial Beta version with learners and employers
• Measure progress and outcomes
• Refine and further develop
• Additional content based on feedback
• Widen trial
• Final app available to all
