LEVERAGING YOUR IB
Use the IB to your advantage in the
college application process
What’s the difference to
colleges?
IB
• Consistent, known standards/curriculum
• Most rigorous
• Emphasis on research, writing, metacognition, global links, application
AP• Academically rigorous
• Individual courses
• No research
• Facts vs application
Move On When Ready
• Curriculum/rigor vary with instructor
• Less nurturing environment
• Developmental maturity
Be sure you indicate you are IB
If you have also taken AP, say so
