Brookdale: Senior Living SolutionsBakersfield, CA 93312350 Calloway Drive

To the committed crew of Brookdale Senior Living Solutions,

I viewed your job listing online today and noticed that you are seeking someone to serve as Brookdale’s Certified Dietary Supervisor. As a student of Northern Illinois’ College of Health and Human Sciences and a nutrition major, I believe that I may be suitable for this position in the years to come.

I am currently a student in my junior year of college studying as a nutrition major with a biology minor. I’ve transferred to my current university from Harper College after earning an Associate in Arts degree with a 3.9 GPA. During my stay at Harper College, I served in Latinos Unidos: a Latino leadership organization in which I attended conferences discussing opportunities for Latino students to improve the school and hold charity drives. I also studied coursework relevant to the dietetics field where I learned both the science behind basic nutrition and demonstrated my ability to follow recipes and prepare healthy foods. I also worked as a dietary aide in the Summer of 2014 where I spent weeks serving food to residents at Lexington of Lake Zurich, a long term care facility, as well as washing dishes and cleaning the facility’s kitchen with accordance to the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals’ guidelines. I am also currently an active member of my university’s Student Dietetic Association in which I prepare fliers informing students of the importance of dietary principles, increase awareness of fundraisers such as the CROP Hunger Walk, and volunteer in bake sales to fund the organization and its intended charitable causes. I believe these experiences to be relevant to the position due to my now increased understanding of food safety, food preparation, nutritional sciences, and the discipline of working for the well-being of others. I’ve also had other work and volunteer experience including work in landscaping and setting football fields which is explained in further detail on my attached resume.

While I am currently certified in First Aide, CPR, and State of Illinois Food Sanitation, my graduation will not be until Spring of 2015 after which my dietetic internship will begin and last about two years. Once I meet Brookdale’s standards for having a Dietary Manager Certification and one to two years of experience in clinical nutrition supervising, I hope that you may consider me for the position of Certified Dietary Supervisor. I hope that you may consider me for an interview in the days to come.

Sincerely,

Dario Diaz
