Let’s start at the beginning

• Man created without sin (Gen 1:27)

• Woman was deceived and disobeyed the only rule (Gen 3:6)– That rule existed for their good

• Their eyes were opened to their shame (Gen 3:7)

God covered their sin

• Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them (Gen 3:21)

• Blood was shed for the first time

• The animal slaughtered was known by them (even named by Adam)

Fast forward 3000 years

• The covenant with Abram was ratified by the passing between the sacrificial animals (Gen 15:1-21)

• The covenant was renewed, through the institution of circumcision (Gen 17:1-27)

• The covenant was confirmed by Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac (Gen 22:15-18)

• Marriage is meant to be a covenant of blood as well (Rebekah, Rachel, Leah, were all virgins when married)

• The Dinah incident occurs – her brothers avenged the violation of covenant

• After 400 years of service in Egypt, the Passover is instituted

Poor little fluffy

• The Passover lamb had to be less than 1 year old (Ex. 12:6)

• Then it will be killed and the blood will be placed on the doorpost

The blood of the covenant

• Is in the Mosaic Covenant for the cleansing of the instruments of worship (Ex 20:24)

• These sacrifices were necessary to allow anyone to enter the Holy place or the Holy of Holies

• Lev 1 – starting point of the priesthoods requirements – all about the blood sacrifice

Fast Forward 1000 years

• After 4000 years of a covering of sin, in the fullness of time, God offers the perfect sacrifice

• Hebrews 10:1-39 says it better than I ever could, but here it goes….

From Heb 10:1-39

• Animal sacrifices covered, did not remove• The sacrifice of Christ was once and for all• Through that, He no longer remembers

our sin• For if we sin willfully after we have

received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins

• Punishment for those who trample the Son of God underfoot

• Urged to recall your first love, the amazement of your Day of Salvation

• You will need endurance, so that after you do the will of God, you will receive the promise

• Do not draw back, because His soul has no pleasure in him who does

And at the end of times

• That Passover lamb that takes away the sins of the world, returns (Rev 5-22)– Opens seals– Triggers the sounding of trumpets– Overcomes Satan– Creates new songs– Triggers the harvest and the unleashes the wrath– Pours out judgement– Shows up on a white horse– Makes all things new
